steve1 5 #1 October 7, 2002 I'm still tinkering with things in preparation for my first camera jump. I know I don't have a very ideal set up, but I just noticed that my Sony Hi-8 cam-corder has an adjustment or setting for wide angle. I'm just wondering if this might work well enough and save buying a wide angle lens. Anyone out there have any experience with this? At any rate I thought I'd try it out. Thanks for your help. MichaelBess 0 #2 October 7, 2002 Steve, You will learn very quickly that using just the camera's wide-angle settings your video will not be wide enough. You could always fly farther back but then you will introduce camera shake into the mix. It's always better to fly closer to your subject and use a wide-angle adapter, wide video is smooth video! Spend the cash (they are really not very expensive) and get yourself a wide-angle lens. As a footnote, do yourself a favor and ditch the Hi-8 as soon as you can (unless you are just planning on using it to learn with). The video you get with your finished product (with even the best Hi-8s) is nowhere near the quality of digital. Michael
quade 4 #3 October 7, 2002 The setting I think you're refering to is for when you have a wide angle lens (specifically the Sony 0.6) attached. Activating that setting on most Sony cameras makes some very minor adjustments to the focus and zoom circuits -- it does not replace adding a wide angle lens to the camera.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
