freeflir29 0 #3 August 20, 2002 I have a Panasonic that was a bit cheaper than the Sony products. It's PC-DV252D. I think this years model is the 352. The only thing it doesn't have that a Sony does is a LANC port. So....no Cameye for you!!! However Skydance makes some gadgets that are close or you could just build one at radio shack. One thing I like about a BUNCH more than Sony is the playbck controls. The Panasonic has real buttons instead of the touch screen. They won't wear out. It does seem to be a little more sensitive than the Sony to Dew but not a whole lot. I have 60 some jumpe on mine so far and I like it. Base price was $842 I think. Craig 0 #6 August 22, 2002 Well, I just bought a DCR-PC101 for $879 (yes new) from http://www.bestdiscocam.com/productdetail.asp?PRODUCT_ID=SONVPC101 The usual going rate for this cam is around $1,200. I'm not looking to jump it for quite a while so I haven't looked to see if they make d-boxes for them yet but I am sure they will. As far as service goes I called them back up today to confirm the order I placed on line and the guy seemed really cool. I did all the research on that model before calling in. Yes he did give a quite elaborate sales pitch on some items I might want to go with it, specifically a higher capacity battery and a separate charger. He finally talked me into it by knocking $20 of the extra items and gave me his name and extension# and in the future if I need anything I am supposed to get free shipping and price breaks on whatever, hope the latter holds true. Sorry, probibally more info than you was looking for but I was happy so...
Spy38W 0 #7 August 22, 2002 Does anybody know if this is one of those companies that sells the camera, but none of the other stuff that usually comes with them? -- Hook high, flare on time

rushmc 23 #9 August 27, 2002 Has anyone used the Sony DCR-IP5 Mirco MV camcorder? Any thoughts? I have found this unit new at http://www.bwayphoto.com/product.asp?item=sndcrip5&l=1 for less than $600.00. Anyone done business with this company? Search for Micro MV on this forum (make sure to select search all posts) I was totally stoked about the IP series when they came out because of the size, but found that they aren't really that well suited for skydiving. -- Hook high, flare on time
Deuce 1 #11 August 27, 2002 Quote The Panasonic has real buttons instead of the touch screen. *** That looks like a weak spot to me too. The 120 has buttons, but that sucker is really expensive. One more question.......if you had unlimited resources, what video camera would you buy?"America will never be destroyed from the outside, if we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves."
