rhino 0 #1 February 28, 2003 Does anyone have a closeup photo of the risers that come with the new wings rigs? I am curious as to how high the dive loops are? Also, I have 21' risers.. What do most of you use and why? I like the longer risers because they make the flair deeper for me.. Rhino
PhreeZone 20 #2 February 28, 2003 Longer risers make the flare shallower. They raise the flare point, if you want to lower it get shorter risers.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
rhino 0 #3 February 28, 2003 Longer risers enable you to go deeper into the flare.. Maybe I just didn't say it right.. When I pull down on the toggles with 21" risers I can get deeper into brakes then when I pull down on toggles with 18 inch risers, brake lines remaining the same length of course. I am just further from them..
Deuce 1 #4 February 28, 2003 Rhino, I'll take some pictures when I have mine out tomorrow. JP
Watcher 0 #5 February 28, 2003 I think he meant with longer risers you could get to a deeper point in the flare, and assuming that the control range is long enough then you still might be all the way extended before you would cause a stall. I use 22 in that come standard with the Odyssey. I am with you Rhino I like the flare to really start at just even with the shoulders and have it extend all the way below my waist, not have it start at my pecks. and finish at my knees (unreachable point).Jonathan Bartlett D-24876 AFF-I
rickfri59 0 #6 February 28, 2003 I'll take some pics later tonight of my brand spanking new rig. I'll put a ruler in the pic beside the risers for reference.
bmcd308 0 #7 March 1, 2003 Rob - The dive loops are probably mounted lower than you will want them and are probably bigger. I don't have a digital camera here, but it's hard to get enough leverage on them because they are too far down the riser. They are the kind that are tacked to the riser for a few inches so that they always stay open. I'm sure you've seen the ones on Andy's gear and the Mullins boys'. Why don't you get Mike or Andy to make yours like theirs? Brent Edited to Add: My risers are 23 inch, and I love them. But remember I'm 6'5" tall. ---------------------------------- www.jumpelvis.com
rickfri59 0 #8 March 1, 2003 The bottom of the loops ate about 17 inches rom the base of the riser. See the pic. Best I could do.

rickfri59 0 #10 March 1, 2003 I need to be more careful with my spelling. The post should have read: The bottom of the loops are about 17 inches from the base of the riser. See the pic. Best I could do.
rhino 0 #11 March 1, 2003 Thanks for the picture Here are mine.. They are all the way up the risers.. Rhino
AggieDave 6 #12 March 1, 2003 On my Wings they're all the way to the top, but the bottom of the loop is lower. They're also sewn in such a way so they stick out, making them easier to grab. I really like how they're made. See this pic to see what I'm talking about (although its not a good pic for this purpose, it was the only one I had). --"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." rhino 0 #13 March 2, 2003 Cool.. I hope the new ones come sewn that high up on the risers...
psuCory 0 #14 March 3, 2003 Rhino, I just received a new set of risers for my Wings 3 weeks ago (switched from 18" to 22"), and the dive loops are located in the same position as those in Dave's picture. The bottom of the loops are (guestimating here) four inches lower than the top of the riser.
