miller 0 #4 February 26, 2003 the new talon, which is called the talon fs or the talon 3 can be seen in the 2002-2003 (#67) paragear catalog (not on their website yet), which includes an order form it's kind of like a tweaked voodoo, but it has the cut-in back pad, the profile of the rig is not as rounded as the voodoo, and the flap aesthetics are a little different. call RI for info. our dzo, an RI dealer, got all of the info on this rig last fall. riggerrob 643 #5 February 26, 2003 Sandy Reid explained to me that the Talon FS/3 is basically a set of Voodoo patterns with a fatter main container for those skydivers who want greater flexibility in canopy sizes.
rigging65 0 #6 February 26, 2003 Let me begin by saying that I've always been a huge fan of the Talon 2. Love it, absolutely love it! Unfortunately, I had one of the early Voodoos, which was crap...even after RI rebuilt part of it. It was one of the bigger ones, so I don't totally hold it against them. I think they released it before they were really ready to. Now there's the FS. Unfortunately, it's basically a Voodoo with some tweeking. It's very stiff and I'm really not a fan of what they've done with the bottom end. It seems like they overbuilt it to try and compensate for fit/fill/shape issues. Whatever. IMO, they should have held onto the Talon 2 and left it with that. I'm just not a fan of any of RIs rigs after that point. Bring back the Talon 2!! mikkey 0 #7 February 26, 2003 Talons are very popular in Australia because they are manufactured here under license (?) by Parachutes Australia. The FS is beautiful and I tried to order one new but found out that the maximum canopy size is 150 on this one. Ordered a Talon 3 instead. Down here there is a difference between 3 and FS but I don't know if that is the case in the US. riggerrob 643 #8 February 27, 2003 I used to own a '94 Talon and currently jump a (1997 vintage) Talon 2, but the main pin cover on the Talon 3/FS looks almost idiot-proof, now I want a Talon 3.
Extrakt 0 #9 February 16, 2005 I've got a talon fs on order sized for a 180 sqft safire 2. They diddn't say anything to me about size restrictions. Their service is great, and you get everything for a set price ($2600 AUS) no little extras apart from the RSL ($70 AUS). Great for you guys in the states, you save heaps because of ex rates ($2089 USD). The reserve handles are really well protected also. Check out the site:- http://www.parachutesaustralia.com/s2/prod_talonfs.php I tried on my friends fs and its heaps comfortable. Enjoi!! Canuck 0 #10 February 16, 2005 I have one, and there are a bunch of people at my DZ with them. Bottom line - awesome rig. The harness (same as the Voodoo) is the most comfortable harness on the market. The "reverse" leg straps are the best innovation to come out of Rigging Innovations. The pin protection is awesome. Somebody said they didn't like the riser protection. It's no different than a Jav. I'm not a real fan of secondary riser covers though - I think they lead to off heading openings. Don't be mislead by the name - this container is totaly freefly friendly - every bit as much as my Wings or my old Voodoo. The container is small and tidy with lots of attention to detail. It's the little things like how the cutaway and reserve handles are attached to the webbing that make all the difference. RI customer service kicks ass. I could go on...
