Triathlon vs. Diablo

How 'high performance' is the Diablo? How does it compare to the Triathlon in terms of compatibility with a low-number jumper?

I equate the Diablo with the Stiletto. Requires body position awareness at deployment so it doesn't spin up, turns really tight and fast. I would not recommend it to a low time jumper.

I agree with skybitch.. Although I loaded the Diablo110 I hat around 1.7 it was and still is the fastest turning canopy I have ever jumped.

I haven't jumped it at lower wing loadings but I would not IN ANY WAY compare the flight to a Triathlon. I would however say that the Triathlon is an excellent beginner canopy.

I agree, the Triathlon is nice when you start...but now to me the only thing it's good for is to get me down....when I finally played with a sabre i realized there is a second half to the skydive!!

i totally agree. but it is funny skydive america has a diablo 170 in one of the student rigs. i know the instructors there try to stay away from that rig as much as possible.

No comparison at all. Lisa is right on with her comparison.

I jump a Diablo 150 at around 1.4 and that sucker turns like crazy. Mine will spin up on me occasionally but so far its been very forgiving when it does. Flies straight and level till I get it sorted out.

AFF rig w/ a Diablo?!?!?! Gotta love non-USPA DZs!!!

As far as the Diablo goes, it has an amazing turn rate. Fastest I have jumped, reminds me of an early edition Jedei. The swoops arent that great, flares like a triathalon, no bottom end to it. It is a 7 cell afterall. I wouldnt even consider a diablo. Other than fast turns, its a dog.

Diablo...

At the loading I was at it was TONS of fun.. It dived like a rock.. Turned amazingly fast.. Glide wasn't anything great but it was o.k... And it shut down REALLY quick.. Not something I would swoop a pond with by any means.. IT was an INCREDIBLY rock solid canopy.

and as to it being a dog..................well that's what larry said. i was like larry that's a full eliptical canopy, (larry) ya, but's it's dog, it will be fine.

I had purchased a new diablo when they first came out. loaded at 1.6 or so. not many people believe me but i will put it up against a stiletto any day (in the air) but it is a 7 cell and lands like one. I now have a stiletto with the same loading because i cant seem to land a 7 cell main very well.

7 cells are definitely a different landing animal.. In my experience they like extra energy,, they almost need it.. The Diablo110 and theTriathlon150 that I owned were both that way..
