danornan 79 #2 October 24, 2010 From a Facebook posting: "Last 3 jumps today - 195 way, 200 way (for a second) & a 199 way for 7 or 8. 6AM start in full gear, going for the sequential. The prep is done....... now to deliver!!"Dano
jverley 1 #3 October 24, 2010 Got the 200-way yesterday. The last grip landed as the pilot chute (mine!) was released, but all grips were there before I was extracted. The builds are going great and today we move on to the sequential. It is really cool watching 199-way fall away from me as I deploy. jverley 1 #5 October 25, 2010 Final day started with a completed 200 way. We did not try a second point. The second jump was not so good. On the third attempt, my Skyvan lost fuel to both engines (some electrical problem) and we had to abort the attempt and bail. The pilot dead-sticked the Skyvan in. Repairs made and we tried again. Forth attempt was the best. First point complete and two grips short on the second point. Last attempt was no good. A great event by P3. It was very cool watching 199 fall away.John Arizona Hiking Trails

I'm not intimate with the Skyvan's systems, but I am with the Metro (same engines) and I can't think of any electrical problem that would cause both engines to lose fuel. Even if all the fuel pumps lose their power source (complete electrical failure), the engines should keep running.

No the tanks were not emptied, i watched as the plane was pulled into the hangar, worked on and test flown with out adding a drop. As you know with the Garetts, they require and electrical signal to shut down. For some strange reason the fuel control units recieved that signal and shut down. (Voltage spike??) Anyway this is one of those really rare things that has happened to other TPE-331's in the past.
mdrejhon 8 #13 November 1, 2010 Wow, I did hear from a lot of friends about that deadsticked Skyvan. Someone on Facebook suggested a fuel management thing. But I am glad to hear that it wasn't a fuel management error! I wasn't there at this event, there just was too many qualified people and I did get put on the waiting list like everyone else who's far enough along in skills/reputation/currency with the P3 team. Also my currency got hit by my injury (hard opening; injury since healed), which probably impacted my position in the waiting list, though I managed to do extremely well at the October Perris 100-way. However, I'll have to note that the fact they did three succesful 200-ways including one near-complete 2-point 200-way -- DESPITE the skyvan problem -- show huge promise in the competency of the P3 team to be able to handle the 500-way record. I'm most definitely looking forward to that! Meantime, I'll be at the Canadian Record. Anyone who's interested, should check up www.CanadaBigWays.com (ENGLISH) and www.CanadaGrandesFormations.com (FRANÇAIS) ... I have updated the websites!
