superstu 0 #1 February 17, 2003 Can someone explain what the difference is between these bev suits: the fx competition, the majik style, and the comp. suit with either the regular or mega booties?Slip Stream Air Sports Do not go softly, do not go quietly, never back down
Stacy 0 #2 February 17, 2003 The competition suit is pretty basic. It has everything you would need for a first suit in it, with lots of mods/extras available. It's a standard RW suit with outer leg grippers and upper arm grippers. You can add the inside leg grippers/booties if you want (for a charge) as well as making the grips fatter (recommended), adding cordura to increase durability... etc. I may be wrong, but I believe the Majik and FX suit are the same thing. This is the suit with the squared arm grippers with elastic insets (you can yank them pretty good and they won't come off!!!), and the booties that have a dual pleat on the front (cordura) to make a stronger rudder in the air. Grippers are also cordura on the Majik suit. I'm pretty sure all fabrics are available for each type of suit.

RozeAY 0 #4 February 17, 2003 Majik also has second arm grips on their suits. There is the front grip which is square with the elastic insets but they also have a standard cordura second arm grip.

I know their black suits dont' have them. I know they were playing around with it for a while, though.
Albatross 0 #6 February 17, 2003 It just seems confusing to me. I like the square grippers, they really give a good grip but the second set sems like a bit too muchChris
RTB 0 #7 February 17, 2003 If you are outside center on a 4-way team, or doing 8-way the double grips might come in handy.
Albatross 0 #8 February 17, 2003 Yes they might but if you are going to have two grips you are going to have a grip plan and you might just as well have ahigh low grip plan and the single grip is more visable for judging.Chris

weid14 0 #10 February 17, 2003 Quote If you are outside center on a 4-way team, or doing 8-way the double grips might come in handy. people have tried them, they really didn't offer much of an advantage, and the disadvantage is when transitioning to another point, they can lead to a littel confusion (was I supposed to take the back grip on this, or the top, etc). We had them on our first suits -- then got rid of them. There are some folks who do think they make exits a little easier, but I didn't find that (a grip plan helps here, ok, Mr. Point, you go high, and I go low, otherwise I'll funnel your butt
lippy 918 #11 February 18, 2003 I bought a used Tony Suit with double competition grips. They can be a pain in the ass on the ground. The grips are so big I can't tie my sleeves around my waist on a hot day, I'm either wearing it all or not wearing it at all. Never had any complaints of people getting confused in the air, but we ain't doing any crazy shit either.I got nuthin
