denete 3 #1 December 27, 2008 Hi. I just bought a used RW suit and it fits great. I am wondering how far I should be able to point my feet before the booties stop my foot. Right now, I can point my feet about 45 degrees past 90 (about 135 total) before the booties stop me. Are these legs a little too long? - DavidSCR #14809 "our attitude is the thing most capable of keeping us safe" (look, grab, look, grab, peel, punch, punch, arch)
matthewcline 0 #2 December 27, 2008 Is that while wearing your rig or not wearing the rig? If it is when not wearing the rig the leg straps should pull a little slack out of the suit and be just about right. If it is when wearing the rig maybe the legs can be shortened a smidge. IMO, I think your wanting to have about 15 to 20 degrees past 90 with out having to "flex" for the bootie to be tight. That last line sounds like it should be in the Bonfire!Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
denete 3 #3 December 27, 2008 That is while not wearing the rig, so it sounds like the length is just about right. Thanks. - DavidSCR #14809 "our attitude is the thing most capable of keeping us safe" (look, grab, look, grab, peel, punch, punch, arch)
ltdiver 3 #4 December 28, 2008 Test it also laying on your belly, in an arch, with your knees flexed like you're skydiving. This also takes up some of the suit's slack. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
denete 3 #5 December 28, 2008 Right. That is how I was testing it, but without the rig.SCR #14809 "our attitude is the thing most capable of keeping us safe" (look, grab, look, grab, peel, punch, punch, arch)
matthewcline 0 #6 December 28, 2008 I meant to add what ltdiver said, so adding those two pieces of advice now how does the suit fit? Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
bliston 0 #7 December 28, 2008 I've found that a near perfect meassure of fit is to lie flat on your belly on the floor, stretch your arms out at full extention above your head and stretch your legs out and point your toes. If you are just able to get your toes to full extension - without restriction and without extra fabric left over - they're perfect. Most people have booties that are too tight (toes at 90 degrees or so) and they're unable to effectively move backwards. BenMass Defiance 4-wayFS website sticks!
