Dolphin or Wings?

Recommended Posts

Most of the rigs he's talking about were maintence issues, tuck tabs not fitting was the cause of one incident where the risers were around the elbows in freefall. Poor BOC was the blame of one, a flap that would'nt stay shut let someone snag the foot on the bridle in a sit train and that one eventually popped accourding to campfire lore.

Between the two...Get a wings

For 50.00 more you have a (my opinion) better looking rig.
For 50.00 more you have a better rig (again my opinion).
For 50.00 more you can have a rig with some level of custom design.

The Tempo is a good reserve (take a wrap on the lines for landing if you use it).

The Hornet is a good starter canopy.

The Vector (in my opinion) is the best designed rig. They had riggers and Engineers working on it. RW seems to always be the company that invents the big things in gear...Throw out PC's, 3 rings, the Sigma....ect....but you didn't ask about the Vector.

Food for thought-
Your rig is what keeps you alive everytime you jump...
Do you want cost to drive your decision?
How fast are you going to progress in the sport...
You might want to consider getting a Great container and a good used canopy.
There are many good deals out there on top quality used gear.
This is not a sport in which you would want to sacrifice for cost.

Good Luck!

What you are implying is that the Dolphin is not safe. I disagree. Also in few hundred of jumps he might want to downsize hence a new container. My view is that the first rig should be something used or cheep new but still reliable like the Dolphin...

No, I wasn't implying that they are unsafe, I am not qualified to pass judgement...
I am simply saying that saving 50 bucks or a hundred bucks is the last thing on my mind when I buy gear that my life depends on.
Besides...If your gonna downsize and get a new rig within a couple hundred jumps, buy something that you can resell for near what you bought it for.
