krkeenan 0 #1 March 6, 2006 Skydive DeLand hosted the Florida POPS Big-Way event this weekend, and boy was it ever a nice time. People came from all over Florida and the rest of the country for a little big-way RW. The weather was awesome, especially today, when a nice-flying, completed 63-way sailed through the sky. This broke the old Florida POPS record of 54. It took several attempts over the weekend. but the perseverance and management skill of organizer, Tim Webb overcame all obstacles. Big-Way luminaries such as Cary Peck, Carl Daugherty, Mike Johnston, Bob Hallett, and Larry Elmore helped by cracking the whips until all the old geezers got it right. DeLand is the Headquarters of World Team Sector 6, and the big-ways brought out a bunch of the 400-way heros who obviously can't get enough of that stuff. Excellent video support was provided by Van Wideman, John Young, and Norman Kent (not the gay attorney, the other one.) Rumor has it that this formation tops the Texas POPS record. This has yet to be comfirmed, but personally, I'm sure that those lilly-livered polecats have never built a 63-way. I'm sure we'll find out. Anyway, it was an awesome time at DeLand this weekend. I really loved seeing a lot of old friends from Fla. and around the country. Blu Skies, Kevin K.====================== Seasons don't fear the Reaper, nor do the Wind, the Sun, or the Rain...
