freebird 0 #1 February 3, 2003 Im sending my canopy to someone and need to get the D-bag off . Does a rigger need to do this?
rmcvey 0 #2 February 3, 2003 nope. Just make sure you use the correct size spanner so you dont "round" the corners of the screw part on the rapide link. Have a rigger inspect it after you put it back on. When you put it back on (presuming it uses connector links) fasten them hand tight, then one quarter turn with the spanner (no more). have it checked when your done. simple
hookitt 1 #3 February 3, 2003 A rigger does not need to do that. The bridle, the D-bag, the Risers and toggles, stay with the container. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
freebird 0 #4 February 3, 2003 Im confused, good thing Im getting out of the sport. So I if Im selling the main I only send the canopy? Not the toggles , oh ok not the risers, yes the toggles. Oh dear. Like I said Good thing Im getting out of the sport. . I'll admit I do not know shit about rigging (as you can see.) I better go to my DZ and have a rigger help me. I was going to ask how to pack it anyway to be shipped. I will just get the box and whatever else I need to ship it and go to a DZ.
hookitt 1 #5 February 3, 2003 Toggle and risers belong to the container. The pilotchute and deployment bag also belong to the container. The canopy and the links stay together. You can bring it to someone if you wish.My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto

PhreeZone 20 #7 February 3, 2003 Tiff, to ship a canopy the only things that should go in the box is the canopy and the 4 metal links. No Toggles, risers, bag or hook knifes. A wrench is all thats needed to take the dbag off. As for packing it up to ship: Daisy chain the lines together. Send me a PM if you needed detailed directions on this. Then just pack the canopy like normal or lay the canopy out on its side (so you can see the Sabre2 panel) and make it some what neat and roll it like a sleeping bag (from nose to tail) and toss it in a plastic garbage bag. Put the lines in the bag and squissh all the air out of the bag and seal it up with the canopy as compressed as it can go. Strectch the bag around the canopy and use a rubber band to keep the bag shrunk. Put the bag in the box and off you go. Also its really nice if you ship all the owners manuals for the canopy when you send it out,Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

floormonkey 0 #10 February 4, 2003 A better way to ship it is to "rigger-roll" it. instructions can be found in the Parachute Manual or I can tell you how...
