i didn't see it on there web page, but i do remember reading somewere that if the sabre 2 was selling well enough they were going to stop making the original sabre. but i didn't know about the pd 7 and 9 cell.

is there really a need for the canopies though?? they are all really old designs.

I jump a PD 9 cell. I guess it's an antique now. Does that mean it'll go up in value? I can see my ebay ad already... :)
I haven't figured out why anybody would want a ZP canopy. I'm having plenty of fun under F-111 loaded at .8 (or a little more when I do RW). Except for that whole swoop thing. That looks cool. And generally not backing up when there's any wind. That would be cool too. But do you have any idea how easy it is to get my canopy in the d-bag?? :)

They stopped making custom Sabres a while ago. There's still a few left on their shelf if you gotta have one. ;)

Yeah, I can see chiropractors buying those up and leaving them at DZ's for some unsuspecting jumper to find.

Ouch. No thanks. My first main was a first-gen Sabre. I used to be 6'2" when I started skydiving. Now I'm 5'8".

Just thought I would throw this in as the talk has turned to Sabres:
If you have a smacker and are tired of doing voodoo tricks to make it open easier, why don't you just send it down and get an H-mod done to it? I can PROMISE you that mod will not only cure your neck problems, but it will also give it better diving and swooping characteristics. $150 is a small price to pay in my opinion. The mod works on any main that has a "standard" nose.

Just a question? What is an H-mod?

I know someone that uses a saber 107 for bird-man jumps and he installed a small slider pocket and has been having great result's. Took some tweaking, his first pocket was a little too big and made the openings a little too slow/long.

It's a howard Mod....work is done on the nose...basicly sewing on little triangles to close up the nose somewhat...this is just a VERY basic interpritation of what I have seen....I'd like to know if I can get this done to my safire....

There is more to it then just that from what I've seen/read. I guess it moves the A lines back a little too and works faily well on all canopies.

Roq has his Roq mod thats similar. I'd PM him to get details of what it does.

I believe that the Safire is one of the canopies that can be H-Mod'd. I was considering doing it to mine a while back and am still considering it as an alternative to downsizing.

Negative, Marc. The Howard (Howard Adams) mod does not move any lines back at all. Atairs interpretation and imbellishment of that mod is just significantly different that they are not hosing Howard. My old 75 was modified by Joe Bennett at Skydive Monroe for $150.

At any rate, the mod is quite simple and yes, one could put it on a Stilleto or a Safire, though if you main already opens softly you might experience excessive snivel and have to move your opening altitude up.
