airborne82nd 0 #1 September 25, 2004 ok just a stupid question here but lets see if i cant get hostile feedback. saw this 4 way team today. One nice fella i met was in the 82nd and was on their 4 way team he had 1000 jumps before he joined so now he must have 2000 jumps i guess. well this 4 way team did everything it was incredible. how they did it and how fast and the sequences was well too hard to beleive. my question is what makes those guys so good? is the tunnell?? does it help a huge amount or just a bit? does it take 1000 jumps to be good a 4way i meen these guys look world class pro athletes. now are they gifted athletes like say tiger woods and have acheived that level due to God given skill hard work and training. Or can anyone reasonable skill develop it are your born with it or are you made. i am in the medical field and they say surgeons are not born they are made. it just seems imposssible that someone like me could ever get to that level. 2nd question is there ameuter 4 way like for novices??? 3rd how the heck can you get good at rw fun stuff. how much tunnel time how does one train ???? any non pissing comments would be apreciated
quade 4 #2 September 25, 2004 You can do what you have the time, money and will to do. Yes, there are people that are "naturals", but that will only take them so far because there is more to it than "simply" flying their own body. It's a team effort and there is no slam dunk in 4-way. No amount of solo flying will make you a "star" in 4-way. In fact, probably the more a person tries to be a "star" the more difficulty they'll have in jumping with anyone. Quote it just seems imposssible that someone like me could ever get to that level. It's like the 4 minute mile. If you don't think you can -- then you won't. Once you know it -can- be done, it's possible. Quote2nd question is there ameuter 4 way like for novices??? Absolutely! It's the single most popular part of the sport. Quotehow much tunnel time how does one train ???? How much money do you have? Seriously, the tunnel is only one of several tools you'd want to use. You'd also want professional coaching and, of course, quite a few actual jumps. Ron 10 #3 September 26, 2004 QuoteOne nice fella i met was in the 82nd and was on their 4 way team WAS in and WAS on the 4way team...Civilian now. Quotehe had 1000 jumps before he joined so now he must have 2000 jumps i guess I have it on good information he has 3300+ now Quotemy question is what makes those guys so good? is the tunnell?? does it help a huge amount or just a bit? does it take 1000 jumps to be good a 4way i meen these guys look world class pro athletes. Yes, the tunnel helps a bunch. You know this already with only 70 jumps, and several hours in the tunnel. It would take 155 jumps to reach the same amount of freefall time you already have. Tunnel is a great way to increase some skills in a hurry. Other skills it does not help. QuoteOr can anyone reasonable skill develop it are your born with it or are you made Both..I know some naturals....Very few. Most train like hell. Quoteit just seems imposssible that someone like me could ever get to that level. Argue for your limitations and you get to keep them. However, accept that anything that can be done by someone, can be done by others to include you...And you just might get it with some effort. The impossible, is what others are doing while you think its impossible. Quoteis there ameuter 4 way like for novices??? Like Quade said...the NSL has a rookie class that is a great way to start. BTW Quade..Good post. Good grasp of what it takes...yaknow for a camera guy Quotehow the heck can you get good at rw fun stuff By DOING RW fun stuff...In the tunnel, or in the air. Coaching helps. The team that you saw today has a tunnel camp OCT 23-24. You can PM me for more details. Quotehow much tunnel time how does one train As much as you can afford. We did 4 hours this weekend. BTW the teams name was DeLand Mojo. It is now going to be named "DeLand BAD Mojo hates Hurricanes; Charley, Frances, Ivan, and Jeanne for blowing our last four training camps"."No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers,

billvon 3,120 #7 September 29, 2004 >Or can anyone reasonable skill develop it are your born with it or are you made. I sucked when I started. I couldn't do a 4 way to save my life, and flailed impressively on my first few hundred jumps. But I kept at it. It took me 4000 jumps, but now I'm setting world records and doing back-ins on 100 ways. Some people learn faster than others, and I'm not one of the fast ones. When I see people with 400 jumps (and a dozen hours of tunnel time) doing better than me at 4-way I'm pretty jealous, but that's the nature of the beast nowadays. You'll get there eventually if you want to. >3rd how the heck can you get good at rw fun stuff. how much tunnel time how does one train ???? Just do it. Make friends with people who also do it for fun and jump with them. Get as much tunnel time as you want; it's a great tool (as long as you have a good coach.)
