Missing a point man

Recommended Posts

Just lost my point man yesterday. We've competed for for 3 straight years now but shoulder problems have taken him out for at least most of this season. Too bad, this is one of my best friends and the team chemistry really came together with this lineup.

It'll be wierd not training with him. Let alone filling that position might be tough. But I have some ideas and with the tunnel camp coming up at least we can get the replacement kick started if they go along.

I was hoping to keep this lineup of people for at least 2 straight years....

Now I understand how hard it is to get a team into double digit averages if I have to keep retraining people every year. We still might make it if we hit it hard this time.

Hey Rehmwa:

I hear ya.
We are still without a fourth from last year.
This hasnt stopped us training so far, but has meant that we now have an alternate, an alternate-alternate and an occasional fill in alternate..

See you at Nats, eh?

ps..can you see me doing my happy *I get to jump the chopper this weekend* dance?

you minx -

Still hoping for nationals this year and we have a friend moving out there tomorrow so room and board is already covered. Going away party is in 6 hours :D

Dre's shoulders will heal eventually, it's a shame. For gosh sakes, he's only 29[:/] He did get to jump in Australia with my other old teammate (on the team she got on doing high teens right now - but I'm not jealous)

good news - I was called today by one of my first choices for the slot and he's in. So only one day to fill the slot and we are up to 4 people a camera commit and one alternate for team and one for camera - And our new point is coming to tunnel in April. He's new (less than 1000), but wants to jump and has the money to really commit. So 3 of 4 to skyventure.....

other good news - and we have our first sponsor.

More good news - Sarah might have a real job (good interview yesterday), so if I give her some frequent flyer mileage - maybe we can have the entire 4-way in for tunnel training.....

Still, I think any meet average over 10 is still out of reach with having a new lineup, but we'll work it. Also, my IC and his wife are expecting in August and I'm thinking that that might affect attending the regional meet and nationals. But maybe not

bad news - cloudy and raining all weekend - can I come out to jump the helicoptor? I promise to do a little dance and jig also. This is the worst winter ever, 4 jumps total.

I'm stopping as this has moved to talkback material. I'm plan on posting questions about our problem blocks soon once we get our first few practices in. That'll be better for this forum.

ok: trying to remain on topic here.;)

Our situation is a little odd, but we are determined to keep training as we like each others company and do not want to give up this opportunity for consistent improvement. (or as much as we can get anyway)

We have one alternate for most training weekend and one of the meets. Her job and other commitments cannot carry her through ant later than early August.

We have another alternate for one, if not two of the meets and hopefully the training days that follow each meet. Her lovelife/worklife commitments mean that she can jump with us once in a while but not often...

And then, we have a third occasional alternate (unfortunately, she is already on another team) who has less jumps/experience than any of us, but a great attitute and her ability to learn quickly is great.

So with all that said, we are still planning on going to Nationals and we have a tunnel camp booked at the end of May.

Our Motto this year is making the best of what we have, learning whatever we can and smiling all the way.

Good luck with the new line up.
Keep me posted on your progress. At this rate you are so gonna kick our butts this year:P

Let's hope none of gets stalled out too soon on the improvement ramp. It would be fun to see some higher scores all around. I'm not planning on it though.
