Some 4-way dives

Recommended Posts

Not a lot of stuff seems to get posted in this forum!:( Anyhoo...

Those of you who check the 'new people' bit on the forums will have seen that I am stuck in Baghdad for six months with nothing but a computer to keep me linked up with the skydiving world...:( but then I realised that this was the perfect time to start planning some jumps for when I get backB| - I don't know about everyone else but me and the guys normally only start thinking about what to do for the next jump when we have packed after the last one! So with a lot of time on my hands I have stuck them on powerpoint - I have attached a couple in case anyone is interested! Bear in mind that they are pretty basic as we are a novice team!

So enjoy, (if anyone is listening!!:S) and if you do jump them, left me know how they went heh?!;)

Blue ones!

Frank

I would suggest changing the way you build the Yuan to the more standard way of building it. Doing it this way will also give the outside center and tail a much smaller move. I've attached a picture. I haven't looked at the second one yet. Glad to see that you're still thinking about 4-way over there ;)

wow i like your presentation. Tell me how i can do that. Then when we show up at the dz on saturday morning every one knows the dives and continuity plan. I aggree that we usuall build the juan with the point out facing and compressed on the inside center. Also 5 randoms are the most you would do at a time. A new team might want to stick to 3 or 4 to get in more repeat transactions. B|

Hey Frank, Is dive 5 the second dive. Or is there more than one dive on the 1st presentation.
Any way on dive 5 the transition from the crank to zig requires only the out side center to move. the wings do not need to switch piece partners. I am sure Ron will be here in a minute to help out. also on a side body the point usually faces out and tail in.

Its relatively (!) simple to create - I was just messing around on powerpoint! As soon as I found out that you can rotate anything you draw freely... well there it was.

As to the moves, I was trying to find the easiest moves, AND set up to repeat the circuit but always happy with advice - that will give me something to do today re-ordering those!

Max of 5 randoms - is that a competition standard? How do they design those dives anyway, since I am just using my imagination here!!
I hadn't posted the other dives because they are even easier but....

I wasn't sure about that one - whether the formation has to look exactly like the one on the dive pool diagram (which is what I assumed) or if I could just have the basics the same which is what I think you are describing above... its a lot easier your way!B|

Dive two engineering: On Q it would be cleaner to have the point and OC being the head then P should have the point at the end of it. Makes the whole dive cleaner. (Q - phalanx, P is sidebody, O is satellite)

You can find a good continuity plan in a few places (standard slots for each of the positions). This is always good to follow as then each person is in the same slot every time you draw that formation. Also, those slots **usually** give you the cleanest moves (example - normal for many is OC/IC have the cat in the crank, but we frequently put the point/tail in the middle if it makes for short moves - about half and half). If you want something that shows this, PM me with an e-mail address and I'll send something to you (all the dive pool formations color coded by slot).

You can also make playing cards out of the dive pool and just 'draw' your dive right at the DZ. You get to discuss engineering with the teammates and learn plenty from that....

Hey Frank: go to http://www.skyleague.com/ and click 2004 and see the rules. I know you are not in the US but it is a good format. As an intermediate team you will not exit a star. I like the meeker, side body, stair step diamond exits. But what every works. Click on the airspeed articles on this forum, just above. Hope to see you at a meet some day. ;)

I'll send you the Power Point file for the cards too then. If you get them laminated, use the heavy sheet stock lamination stuff (not the roll) and then put them in a bag of talc for a weekend. Then you can shuffle and deal them. I got your message and can send both Monday.

PM me your e-mail. I don't have the file at work so it'll be a couple days.

The two files aren't likely good for using up HH's bandwidth

Thanks - I noticed that one advertised but I was more tempted by the Airspeed exit and blocks CDROM - seems a little pricey but worth it I guess! Just have to work myself up to stupming up 70 bucks!!:S

That's a shame to spend too much. Last year (or before) the Golden Knights gave away several team videos through skyleague.com. Lots to learn there also.

We have tapes of both Airspeed and the Knights for exits and blocks. A DVD would be nice for the quickness of review aspect though.
