What's the best container for a petite female?

Recommended Posts

I'm 5'0" about 115 lbs. now. I have an Odyssey that was made for me and I absolutely love it! It fits perfect and is really comfortable. Mine is an RS-1 which holds a 120 (just barely). You'd probably have to get a TJN if you want it to hold a 135.

So, my recommendation as another 5'0" jumper is get an Odyssey!

my container is a TJN, i have an airlocked 136 in there that packs without complaints. i've found that you can actually (usually) go one size bigger witha main than sunpath states on the web site, IMHO. my first container was that way was well.

your right. a 120 is the smallest . i think up to a 325 is max. a 120 saber will go into a 300/300 like mine and is tight. I have a 120 tempo with cypress in the top. I love the setup. I dont mind so much.. but you could call Nancy at Jump Shack and she will know.

Have you tried this same post in the womens only forum? I'm sure you'll get some really valid points there.

I know one major concern with Women in general is the chest-strap (as in above or below the BOOBIES :)
Other than that, most container manufactuers will make the 'extra-short' container for the 'petite' people so take your pick really.

Run a search and maybe a quick post over there.

It's funny, our "typical" Wings is short and now we have the EXT's for the people who prefer a longer rig. :)
I'm biased about containers of course, but I'm only 5'2" and I have a Wings W-6 with PD126R and a 136 main and I love the fit. The rig doesn't hang down on my butt, the BOC handle is right where it should be, fits great on the shoulders.

Just about any manufacturer should be able to accommodate your measurements. If you have any friends about your size try on their rigs and see what you think.

Happy hunting!

cool

so when do you think they will be ready to be ordered??

To be honest, I'm not sure. We're going to keep it close to home for a while to do a second round of Beta testing on it...to check for any unexpected wear points, etc.

We really don't want to grow too big, too quick...and, if I do say so myself, it would be very easy with this rig design to do just that.

We'll just have to play it out as it comes.

Crystal, you tried my Racer Elite on in Eloy and it has a 135 main and 126R. It fit you perfect and I think you may be hard pressed to find something that actually works for you without actually trying it on. My suggestion is go with a new Racer Elite or the NOS model.

Hey Crystal!

I have a "S" (short) sized Mirage and I love it! It is soooooo comfortable! But I'd recommend trying on a few different rigs so you can get a better idea of what is comfortable on you.

Personally, I think Mirage "S" sizes rock.... plus they're customer service kicks ass. :P

This is my only complaint about my wings...is that I am 6'1"'s tall and have to kinda bend my arm all funky like to get my main handle..but I've figured it out now....just wish I knew about the EXT before..I'd of waited....

I'm not sure if you remember seeing my Mirage. It is a MOS and I have a PDR 126 and Spectre 135 in it. They pack up great in the container. I've also had a 120 in there for a short time and could tell no real difference. I love the way it fits on my back and at pull time there is no second spent stretching my arm to reach the BOC. I'll have it in Eloy and you will be more than welcome to try it. I've loaned it to a friend with a 150 and she had no problems with it either.

My new rig is a Javelin YTJNK. Again it hold the 126R and the 135 main. This is a very comfortable rig too but I have found that I have to actively reach for the BOC. One thing my Odyssey has that I love is the cut in laterals and the spacer foam. The rig fits so snuggly on my back and wears like a dream. I've never put anything else in the Jav as I just got her in May.

Feel free to PM me is you want to talk any other specifics or if you're going to be somewhere near GA, Tenessee, NC (?), Eloy or Perris between now and New Years and I'll gladly let you play with them both.

Medic, I doubt it. The EXT is cool, but the largest reserve it will hold is a 126, and it's sized for largest main at 135. Heather, correct me if I'm wrong.

Actually, they will fit any size main/reserve combo....directly from the SR website..

Quote

A) fly small (under 120 square foot) high performance mains but like the security of a larger reserve (ie: 75 Velocity and a Raven-M 135),

OR

B) have fairly large main and reserve canopies but still need a longer container, to ensure that the BOC deployment handle is in the right place (not too high up on his/her back).

We will publish a sizing chart for the EXT series shortly. We can accommodate just about any combination of canopies possible. 200 square foot reserve and a 109 square foot main? Not a problem! We can build a Wings or Wings EXT that will be perfect for you and your canopies!

I'm planning on ordering one for my dedicated wingsuit rig pretty soon.

Mike

I am 5'3" and weight 120 and my torso is only 16 inches. I have always jumped a Wings. Currently, I am jumping a PD 126 and a Sabre2 135. My Wings holds those canopies well and will be just as nice for a 120 main. I have preferred the Wings since I was a student partly because they were a shorter container. Wings also makes an extra small harness to fit smaller builds.
