samp76 0 #1 January 19, 2003 Can a Pro Track be placed inside a helmet and be somewhat accurate?? --Sam--Let go of the NUT!!
LouDiamond 1 #2 January 19, 2003 Yes, most people have them inside their helmet or jumpsuit. But if your want to really get technical the prefered location is outside on the mainlift web. That is where the competative speed divers wear theirs."It's just skydiving..additional drama is not required" Some people dream about flying, I live my dream SKYMONKEY PUBLISHING
SkydiveMonkey 0 #3 January 19, 2003 Yeah, mine is inside my lid, and is usually within 2mph of the people I jump with.____________________ Say no to subliminal messages
AndyMan 7 #4 January 19, 2003 Head mounted pro-tracks, whether inside or outside, tend to give relatively accurate aggregate numbers for the jump. E.g. the top, bottom, and full dive average are pretty accurate. However, specific speed indications are very sensitive to head movements. Looking down, then to the left, then to the right will significantly alter the units percepetion of speed. This means two things: 1) the max speed will be completely irrelevant. 2) if you were to graph the full dive in Jump-Track, you'll see wildly differing speeds throughout your skydive. In the first attached jpg (pro-track.jpg), the variations throughout the jump are indications of head movement, rather then speed changes. In the second attached jpg (pro-track2.jpg), my head was mostly stationary as I was flying camera. There are significantly fewer variations in the indicated speed, and the variations are much smaller. In this case, they probably do represent actual changes in speed. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
