jzaslaw 0 #1 May 11, 2013 Hey guys, I'm going to make this as short as I can to start, and add details if/when they are requested. Here's the short story: I've jumped VX's for the last 10+ years. I've jumped VX's from 68 up to 89 sq ft. regularly. I took a few years off from the sport and have recently come back. I'm now jumping a JVX 94. I'm having a huge problem with turn initiation altitude. I used to turn my VX's (270 degree turn) around 700ft and up (depending on size) and I'm struggling with the JVX 94. 600ft on the JVX seems high, even if I milk it around and maximize dive:rotation ratio. My understanding is that the JVX is supposed to have a longer recovery arc than the VX, so I'm really confused. Looking for some feedback from JVX pilots. My wing loading is right at 2.0:1. Thanks in advance! -Zaz
trigger 0 #2 May 11, 2013 Sounds more of a currency issue rather than a canopy issue. Suffered a similar experience after only a year out recovering from a non skydiving injury. Couldn't get my canopy to dive as expected. Stuck with my original initiation altitude and brushed up on my technique and with time that all changed and I concluded that the problem was simply down to me being a tads rusty..CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER. jzaslaw 0 #3 May 13, 2013 Thanks for the feedback. I was looking through some stills from my GoPro this weekend and I saw something very interesting. My slider, although collapsed and secured on the back of my jumpsuit was riding several inches up the risers and actually had the rears engaged (bowed back a couple of inches). Basically I was flying in rears constantly. I guess between that massively wide slider, the higher attachment point (on my jumpsuit collar), and additional drag from the larger slider, I need to do something to better secure the slider to the base of the risers (or just go with a removable slider).
