NBHC 0 #1 January 13, 2003 Hi there, Anyone heard of a tempest canopy before? Which company made it?
indyz 1 #2 January 13, 2003 According to Poynter's, the Tempest is a 270 sq. ft. 9 cell canopy with direct line attachment and two crossports in each rib made by GQ Security. No other details about the canopy are listed. If I'm reading this correctly, the canopy was introduced in 1984, and in October of that year GQ left the sport parachute business. Not long after that, GQ Security closed it doors permanently. It looks like GQ's parent company has merged with another company since then, forming Irvin-GQ. It seems that Irvin-GQ is not in the sport parachute business.
gus 1 #3 January 13, 2003 Yikes! Have a look at a live drop from 250 feet on an Irvin-GQ round - pretty scary stuff. Gus OutpatientsOnline.com

Think about the person they made do this.. Private Pyle... The live drop test is in need of a volunteer. We choose you. TImMy grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry...
