d123 3 #1 December 3, 2010 http://www.performancedesigns.com/docs/brochure.pdf I've found this one interresting but I'm having problem decoding the information. For instance: Turns: Smooth (Silhouette), Steady (Navigator), Responsive (Pulse, Katana, Sabre2, Storm), Fast (Stiletto, Lightning), Conservative (Spectre, PDR, Optimum), Agressive (Velocity, Velocity Comp) How would you order those terms into something that makes sense? I've been flying Spectre and PDR and the turns were more responsive on PDR on nearly the same WL. Same thing for Handling ... how would you make sense of what handling is and how would you order the terms into something that makes sense? Easy (Silhouette, Pulse, Storm, Spectre), Conservative (Navigator), Responsive (Stiletto), Aggressive (Katana, Velocity, Velocity Comp), Advanced (Sabre2), Predicatable (PRD, Optimum), Tricky (Lightning) And for this 2 guys: Flare: Good (Silhouette, Spectre, PDR), Great (Navigator, Sabre2, Storm), Deep Finish (Katana), Powerful (Velocity, Velocity Comp), Incredible (Optimum), Weak (Lightning) Recovery Arc: Short (Silhouette, Pulse, PDR, Optimum, Lightning), Quick (Navigator, Stiletto), Quite Long (Katana), Medium Long (Sabre2), Medium (Storm), Medium short (Spectre), Long (Velocity, Velocity Comp)Lock, Dock and Two Smoking Barrelrolls! BETO74 0 #2 December 3, 2010 A PDR is a reserve canopy " have you been flying a reserve as a main? both the spectre and the PDR are 7 cells but they have different gliding ratios due to type of wing, shape and line trimming.http://web.mac.com/ac057a/iWeb/AC057A/H0M3.html
craigbey 0 #3 December 3, 2010 Quotehow would you make sense of what handling is Not trying to be a smartass, but the best answer may be to demo the canopy or canopies you may be interested in flying. Canopies don't have quantitative flying characteristics, so you can't put them on a scale to rate their performance in manner that everyone would agree on. People have different experiences and perspectives when they fly, so using general terms is the only way to describe the canopies to the masses. You've already discovered more about the Spectre vs PDR from your experience jumping both. Although PD put them into the same category regarding turning performance, you found the PDR to be more responsive. You will discover more when you demo.
