skydivegirl 0 #1 January 9, 2003 Has anyone packed a Cobalt 120 into the MXS size G3? Was it a reasonable fit or was it way too tight? It's supposed to be a 'tight' fit but I just wanted someone else's definition of what a G3 tight fit is... Thanks!Pink Mafia Sis #
Craig 0 #2 January 9, 2003 I have a M3 and had a Triathlon 160 packed in it. According to their chart a Spectre, which should be a similar pack volume, 170 is Very Tight, and a 150 is Tight. I had no problems closing the container with the Tri 160. On the other hand I now have a Cobalt 135 and it is definately the smallest canopy that can safely be packed in the M3 (according to it's pack volume). Really the best thing you can do is contact Bill at Mirage and talk to him.
grega 0 #3 January 9, 2003 i'd also like to know the fitting for mirage G4 size MT, with the same canopy (Cobalt 120) and Cobalt 120 Competition. As much as i heard of mirages, tight really means tight "George just lucky i guess!"
skydivegirl 0 #4 January 9, 2003 I already did. He said it would be tight but definitely do-able. He also recommended a MT which wouldn't be as tight. However, I love the short sizes (the ones ending in "s"). I'm a shortie . I just wanted to get some other opinions. I don't want to have to jump on it, kick it, and curse it to get it closed Pink Mafia Sis #
skydivegirl 0 #5 January 9, 2003 For the G4... definitely call Mirage on that one. As I understand it, the G4's are a little bit smaller than the corresponding sized G3. BUT, they may have corrected this. Bill's the best guy to ask about this one for sure!Pink Mafia Sis #
grega 0 #6 January 9, 2003 well i asked bill already and he said that cobalt 120 would be a perfect fit for mirage G4 MT. I'd like to know someones personal opinion, like you for G3 Btw: are you buying new rig or canopy or neither ? "George just lucky i guess!"
Craig 0 #7 January 9, 2003 I was going to say an MT would be a good choice given you are jumping a Dash-135 reserve. I do not know if I would want to overstuff the reserve container like that? Your only talking an inch and a half difference between the two. Anyhow good luck in whatever you decide.
LouDiamond 1 #8 January 10, 2003 I have a stilleto 135 in mine and the manufacturer label in the pack tray lists PD 120 as the biggest for that brand in my container. However, my chute fits in it perfectly fine and yes, it's a new rig and stiff. you shouldn't have a problem."It's just skydiving..additional drama is not required" Some people dream about flying, I live my dream SKYMONKEY PUBLISHING
skycat 0 #9 January 10, 2003 I have an MXS and had a crossfire 116 in it which actually packs up bigger than a cobalt 120. It was a pretty tight fit, but I had no really issues getting the canopy in the D-bag, it was brand new and the really slippery ZP. It took some work and careful packing but it wasn't that big of a deal. Also when closed off the container looked just fine, nothing was showing from under the main pin cover and I had a pretty long closing loop for a mirage. I now have a crossfire 104 in it which packs closer to a 120 and it's a breeze to get in the container. I have also had a stiletto 97 in it, and that was fairly loose...I wouldn't go down to an 89 stiletto with it, but I'm pretty sure an 89 crossfire would still fit ok. Probably way more than you wanted to know. Fly it like you stole it!

ouroboros 0 #11 January 12, 2003 howdy skygirl. i jump a cobalt 170 in a mirage M4 sized rig. packs great, pleanty of room. mirage sized this for me. i also have a cobalt 105 in a mirage G3 MXS sized rig. the rig is sized for a 120 main- i know a 135 main will not fit in it. the cobalt 105 fits very nicely into the MXS. before anyone jumps on me for the horrific size difference of my mains, the second rig i am selling, as the person who was going to use it never jumped again. anyone interested in buying / trading for it? www.gladiusdei.org/rig hegemonial@ameritech.net chicago, IL
