Which crossbrace Canopy have the lowest front riser pressure? Velo, VX, V-Max, or what ever?

Recommended Posts

Hello.
I´m looking for a new Canopy. My first crossbrace!
I would like to know wich crossbrace Conopy have the lowest frontriser pressure?
The two canopies who i preffer are Velo or VX. But also the new V-Max would be interesting.

Thank you so much!

Why is light front riser pressure necessarily a good thing?

i find canopies with light front riser pressure to be less agressive and have less performence.

I jump a JVX, it has high front riser pressure, but dives really well.

It is loded at 2.4 and loses 900ft in a 270 degree turn.

I would recommend a JVX, but you have not listed one on your options.

What is your primary reason for using he canopy? camera, fun jumping or competition swooping..?

Every pilot has a 'style' or method they prefer to use to generate power. Riser pressure may impact their ability to do their preferred turn.

It's really important that a pilot finds a wing that compliments themselves and the things they like. If that's a JVX, Velo, V-MAX, XAOS, etc it doesn't really matter - long as they're happy with it.

As usual, demo.

My primary reason for a crossbrace is funjumping and lerning to swoop for competition in the future.
My last Canopy was a Nitro 88 and now i realy can land this small thing. downwind, crosswind, i can fly turns but... it´s impossible for me to fly a 360 degree and more because the frontriser pressure increase with any degree more and more. So i´m serching a Canopy with a less preasure. I tested the Velo and it´s much better as the Nitro. But i´m sure you guys have more experance and has tasted more canopies as me.

Hook your Nitro back up, and learn how to use your harness for input. No matter what Xbrace canopy you buy, the riser pressure will build with speed, and you'll need to start using harness input anyway.

I agree 100% with this statement. Hook that Nitro back up and work that stuff out before switching to a cross braced.

There are all sorts of techniques for keeping a canopy with high front riser pressure in a dive.

I jump a JVX which has a metric shit ton (thanks Ross), of front riser pressure. So I use a combination of techniques to keep it in a dive. Half Brakes, Harness, slower carve, etc......

If i understand right the frontriser pressure are not the mainproblem. The mainproblem is i have still not the right technique to hook my nitro for more than 236 degree.
And i will have the same problem on any crossbrace canopies as well with increase of speed.

Thank you for your posts.
You help me alot.

I agree that you should already know about harness input and progressive turns already if you are going to fly a small, agressive canopy.

Maybe you should continue with your current canopy for a while.
