deaffreeflyer 0 #1 January 8, 2003 My reserve is Cricket 147ft². It was made in 1992. It have been used 7 to 9 times and lots of re-packs. I wonder if it is time to ground it and get myself a new or used PD143?

I wonder if it is time to ground it and get myself a new or used PD143? Not necessarrily but the PD143 is an awsome reserve. Take note that a Ne wPD143 would probablly withstand a high speed reserve deployment much better than a less reinforced canopy. (note I say probably) Also 7 jumps on a parachute is not a lot of jumps. PD requires that the reserve be sent back for permeability and strength testing after 40 repacks or 25 jumps, Whichever comes first. You try and put 25 jumps on a reservGood luckMy grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto

If it were me (200 lbs exit wt under a 147) I would replace it after ~60 repacks.
masterrigger1 2 #4 January 12, 2003 Actually, My belief is that the Cricket reserve is a stronger built reserve than the PD143R. I own a few of both makes of canopies. We have also been involved in serveral different drop tests involving the Glide Path/Flight Concepts canopies, along with other brands, and have witnessed first hand how strong they are. They are built like "Tanks". The PD canopies do have a bit better landing flare though, but not by much. hookitt 1 #5 January 12, 2003 Interesting to Know. I haven't seen a cricket in a few years so I don't recall. At least they didn't ask about a rascal huh?My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
masterrigger1 2 #6 January 12, 2003 Hookit, You bet! I had a friend of mine that almost died under one of those a few yearsback(reserve sniveled forever!). We don't see many of the Rascals anymore but we do see quite a few Flight Concepts Products around.
