RMURRAY 1 #1 March 9, 2008 I have not called them yet but anyone know why they moved away from the RDS rings using the plastic bit and the normal grommet? Looks like they are using an all-stainless one now. rm
shadowswoop97 0 #2 March 10, 2008 We moved away from the plastic with the skydiving grommet because like all products, there was room for improvement. The benefits are 1: They last longer with less wear 2: They wheigh less than half 3: They decrease pack volume 4: They reduce floating on the risers 5: They improve openings by wieghing less 6: They improve the overall quality and craftesmanship of the RDS If you have any questions or would like to order a RDS from Para-Concepts. I would be happy to assist you. Hope this helps with your question. Nick@worldstuntteam.com
JohnnyZ 0 #3 March 10, 2008 I was just over there Saturday and asked Kirk about the new rings. He found a new supplier that will be producing rings very similar to the stainless rings shown on my Para Concepts RDS (see links). They are going to be produced out of an alloy and will be slightly thicker than the stainless ones. I had the older version that you were talking about. The newer version is much less bulky and easier to reconnect when packing. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a382/jzagoda/ParaConceptsRDS003sm.jpg http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a382/jzagoda/ParaConceptsRDS001sm.jpg
RMURRAY 1 #4 March 10, 2008 nick, how many jumps will the old version last? are you guys recommending a change out to the new style? I tend to like the old since they have got to be easier on the lines than any machined and polished ring. rm
