Infinity container

Recommended Posts

Hi all B| I'm looking into getting an infinity container and before I place my order I was hopping to get some of your comments on the it. Good or bad its all useful information. I have already read every review I could find so far and I'm hopping you all can give me a few more. My intentions are RW, Freefly and CReW.

I have one and I like it. I've done sit-flying, head-down, and RW with it and never had any problem. It's very comfortable and I like the way it looks. I also like the way it is designed (no exposed pilot chute cap, additional riser covers, good bridle protection, no Velcro, etc.). The only negative is that the hardware on the legstraps is a little slippery (the legstraps tend to loosen up on me). Yes, the hardware is stainless. All things considered, I think it's a fine container.

Just in case you haven't already heard my opinion on the Infinity.... ;)

I love mine. I think it looks really sharp. The harness (with hip rings) fits me perfectly and is super comfortable. Quality of construction is top notch. Customer service from the factory is outstanding. Delivery time beats everyone else. Price is reasonable.

Closing flaps and riser covers are bombproof - I've done RW and freeflailing in it, 130 jumps so far, never a problem. There are a growing number of Infinities at my home dz and I haven't heard anyone say they've had a flap or riser cover open when it wasn't supposed to. I also have stainless hardware and have not had a problem with the leg straps loosening up.

If you can, make that 3 hour drive over to the factory and talk to Kelly before you order. He'll even measure you while you're there so you'll be sure of getting a good fit. :)

You'll be happy with the infinity. The location of the facility compared to where you live is also a definate plus.

I would definatley be happy to own one as it's built very well and is extremely freefly and skysurf friendly. While performing spins over unders and lots for flips an layouts and such, the riser covers and flaps stay closed until you decide they should be open.

(that sounds like an add:) Just so you know, I don't jump one, but I truly like the container)

No need to call across the states when you have a great container in your own back yard.

Good luck

I'm wondering is that true of most infinities or is that me?

A harness made to fit your measurements will fit you better and be more comfortable regardless of the container manufacturer. If your friends rig was built for him and he's an inch or more smaller in the chest than you, that would cause his harness to be tight on your body.

I jump at Kapowsin all the time (which is where they are made for those that don't already know) and they are the best rigs I have seen so far. They look cool, everything that is meant to stay closed during freefall stays closed no matter what you're doing in the air. Kelly is an AWESOME guy and builds a great rig. As soon as I get my credit limit raised, you can guess what I'm gettin!

If you get an Odyssey, you'll wait 4-6 weeks longer for custom and you'll pay a bit more for it than you would for an Infinity.

They're both nice, safe, well made containers. Really comes down to which you like the look of best, how much you want to spend and how long you are willing to wait for it.

The new Infinities are great. They are better than Vectors IIIs and go toe-to-toe with Javelins and Microns.
As for shoulder comfort, I tried on an Infinity built for a guy who has a slightly bigger chest than me and it was the most comfortable yoke I have ever worn.
As for which is better, it comes down to a question of aesthetics and what your local rigger prefers.
The original poster would be wise to support his local manufacturer so he gets quicker delivery and repairs.

Thanks for all the great feed back everyone. I have had plans to get up to Kapowsin for a look at the factory and a jump or two but time and work have not allowed me to do so.

I had considered the Centaurus, Odyssey and Infinity containers. I made my choice based on performance and ease of service. The Centaurus is a great but not so well known container that is well built and just as sturdy as the Infinity. It is freefly as well as CReW safe. If one is going for looks and comfort the Odyssey is a great container but a bit pricey for my tastes. The infinity is an all around well-built container. It’s not as flashy as other containers but who is really more concerned about looks than comfort and performance. When it comes to CReW the Infinity is a snag proof rig, which is a must to prevent hook up and entanglements.

I'm also considering an Infinity. I've done lots of online research (price/Features) and think it's a good value. Question for the gang... better to order through an equipment supplier (Square1, etc) of go to the factory? Most equipment suppliers offer a "discount", but you got to know they're still making a few $$ off each rig. Does the factory offer the discounted prices, or even bigger discounts? I'd like to order soon so I can receive it and get it rigged for spring.

Well, yeah. It's known as profit. It's what keeps gear dealers in business, not to mention what keeps them able to give back to the sport through event sponsorships and employing jumpers.

Not that I know of. Kelly (Velocity Sports Equipment owner) has sent a few customers to me because I can give them a better price on an Infinity than he can. Most dealers also have the time to work with the customer to be sure they are getting the container exactly as they want it; I think Kelly would rather spend his time building rigs.

yeah, what Lisa said. IME, the manufacturers will only offer a discount if they are sponsoring you in some sort of way. Remember, they are not staffed to handle regular retail sales, so by keeping the price point at the sticker price, it kind of drives people to the dealers (who can offer a discount if so inclined).

Which of the major equipment dealers is best to work with. I'd be interested in the good & bad experiences.

what are your requirements? i.e. price, distance, sales tax evasion, custom measurement, after sales service, etc. Most dealers have websites now, too, so you can email for prices, etc. IMO, there are many good ones out there. Sunshine factory, all the "squares", skykat, TSO-d, pier (under new ownership), the pro shop at the Ranch all come to mind.

If you want to have the dealer measure you, pick one that's close (may not be a "major" dist.) if you want to save the sales tax percentage (which can add up if you have a big purchase), go with one out of state, IME shipping is about the same no matter where you go.

Give Lisa (Skybytch) a call at Square-1 (909-657-8260). I bought my Infinity from her about 3 months ago, and couldn't be happier with the service, pricing, and the container itself!

Lisa went to great lengths to help me with the options and colors, not to mention that she jumps an Infinity herself (o.k...well, I guess I mentioned it anyway didn't I!:)
Seriously...you'll not find better service or experience!

Greg

The infinity already has the articulated harness in stainless or non stainless steel.

Hip rings only, no chest rings available...

Then what exactly is an articulated harness then? I thought it was hip and chest rings together.
