swooping 1:1

Calm down there dudette...:D:D

Looking for advise online is sort of like asking if oyu should keep breathing. Some people are going to say yes, and some people are going to say to quit wasting all the air that the rest of us breathe because you are going to die some day anyways. You are going to probably go with the advise that you want to hear and do what ever it is that you want to do anyways. So go out there and do it, but please spend the money and get competent coaching. The competent coaches charge the most and you have to travel because they are the best. This swooping stuff is really easy.

1. Do whatever it takes to not fly into the earth or other objects at a high rate of speed and you will probably be O.K.

2. Do not put yourself into a situation that you need to pull skills out of your ass that you may not have and you will probably be O.K.

3. Do not fuck up and you will probably be O.K.

Follow those three rules listed above and you will probably be O.K. I'm not going to make any garantee's on this matter, but I would say rule three is the most important.

Wow! Brilliant rules! Are they swooping specific? Can they be used some other fields than swooping? B|

I'm happy that you are calm and certain about your gender, because are not so... ...you picked your name.

ignorance is bliss

Elisha was the name of a Biblical prophet

Thank you, not so ignorant one.

And Phoenixplr, no, I didn't pick my name - it was given to me by my parents. Elisha is my middle name.

If you look at my avatar, Elijah is the orange fuzz that is supposed to be a a flaming chariot ascending to heaven and Elisha is on the ground and has just received the mantle from Elijah.

Allan Tompkin? There is some Allan at Byron frequently - I think he lives in a trailor there. I don't know his last name though.

yeah, this allan is from new mexico and had a nasty collision with a windblade ask JP about it...the lesson I was hoping he would pass to you was about thining one was different from every other person who tries to say they are different when people who have been in the sport for a butload lot longer and seen a shitload more try to help you and keep you in the sport longer :-P

But who knows you might be the next jeffro

I googled Elisha and I found a bunch of naked pictures of Elisha Cuthbert. Man she is hot.

Coaching is the way to go. People who can evaluate your skill will give better advice than people who can't decide your gender.

Yeah...saw that too and it pissed me off that some porn chick stole my name.

I will say that Spizzarko's article about maintaining altitude (his tip-toe thing) has helped.

Thanks...but this brings up something I've been wondering for a little while that I don't think has been covered.

When I read any of these suggested WL charts, I see nothing about jump frequency - just # of jumps. I know this is not what they mean, but it almost implies that I should have immediate carte blanche license to go purchase a crossbrace once I hit jump #x01 (or 1 more than the limit of the chart).

Hex says "currency". I'm guessing he really means frequency. I'm plenty current. The SIM says I need to do at least one jump in the last 60 days for an A License holder. I need to study my C License requirements so I can push this...you know, in the unlikely event I move out of California.

Semantics aside, I haven't seen anything yet that recommends like: Regardless of total jump#s, if you jump <50 per year, then your WL should be <=1.0 and square canopy planeform, <100 per year <=1.2 and square or semi-elliptical, blah blah (just an example).

Sorry to dig his up, but I just read it.

http://www.bigairsportz.com/pdf/bas-sizingchart.pdf
Currency
Add approximately 15 square feet for less than 100 jumps per year
(i.e. 120 becomes 135)
Add approximately 30 square feet for less than 50 jumps per year
(i.e. 120 becomes 150)

That said, I don't feel very current skydiving or canopy flying unless I'm doing more than that, and way more than the USPA minimums. Something like 5-10 jumps a weekend makes me feel more current.

And where did you find real Elisha Cuthbert nudes? I read a few articles that said she refused to fully strip.

What are the four forces of flight on a wing? Lift, Weight, Trust and Drag. A larger lesser loaded canopy generates a lot of drag and because of this there is less trust and thus less lift (meaning you don't really swoop all that far before your canopy looses it's lift and it stalls).

Typos aside, canopies do not generate thrust.
