canopy advise

Recommended Posts

Anyone have any experiance with alpha's. I'm looking at safire 113-119 or crossfire 109 and this 117 alpha. My wing loading will be around 1.6. I will be 190 out the door. Last canopy was saber 97 and i was 210 out the door. I skysurf and freefly. Dont hook and open high IE. "Skysurf". need consistant openings and not line twists at this wing loading. Any past experiance with these canopies. I did'nt like the stilleto at all. I have about 500 jumps and all freefly and skysurf since jump 40. Had a saber 170 right out of aff school. Hope this information helps.

Thanks, chris

Thanks guys, Chris

Is it an Atair or Icarus Alpha?

If its an Atair its the same canopy as a Viper/Impluse/Space or Cobalt (this has a few updates but same design). Read reviews on those canopies to geta feel for the canopy.

If its an Icarus I've never seen or jumped one.

ditto what chuck said.

alpha's were the predecessor to the cobalt. and were the canopy of choice of many pro-swoopers before x-braced canopies, i.e. jim slaton, joey jones, cavin warren, etc... all ex alpha competitors...
