The JVX with sail material...

I will remove the slider on both canopies

Are you going to use your RDS made for your Velo? Maybe I'm mistaken, but I thought the slider on the JVX needed to be larger (at least it is on my canopies).

No the 96 JVX there has a removable slider on it, so I will use that. It looks like one of Mel's sliders with a bunch of damn pocket shits sewn on to the sides.

I think Ian should have given up after his speed run too. That was embarrasing. I was embarrased for him! It's crazy that a man with a shirt as tight as his could do so poorly in a comp! hahahaaaaa:D

I thought it was

"Your only as good as you look!!!"

If that were the case I would win the Sexiest Man round of the swoop comps, but the PST isn't as progressive as it ought to be, so I'm relagated to kicking every ones ass in speed, distance, and accuracy. hahahaaa

Don't you actually have to ENTER the competition to do that? ;)

HEy Grant

The 96 JVX is about the same size as a velo 103 actually even a little bit bigger because of different methods of measurements so i am afraid this whole thread has been a waste of your time because it wont be an apple to apple comparison if you jump both.

put your go fast 103 in the container for a more accurate comparison.

are you guys (the top swoopers) using the jvx with sail material or the regular jvx. I asked a canopy designer about the material and he said it does not make sense to use. I think the real proof will be in the competition results....

I have been using both the sail material and the ZP in the same size and trim canopy as well as different sized canopies.

The sail material makes a big difference to dive, speed and slow speed flight. it dives more, goes faster and shuts down much better. it is very rigid stuff. all you have to do is pack it once and you will know it is like folding cardboard.

good stuff. does a 96 JVX 2.0 (sail material) pack up about the same as a 150 9 cell zp? just wondering if it will fit my container - it fits up to a 150.

I have a 97 VX now. no cash now but I think I know what my next main will be!

I use the regular ZP. would be nice to have a 2.0, but it isnt an everyday canopy. it is a pain to pack.

I would like a small one for comps. like an 80-84, but i would only use it for a comp, because of how much it is a pain in the ass to pack.

do they get any easier with (say) 600 jumps on them. I would not buy new anyway - way too much cash for me. Plus I would want the Skyworks lines installed. I thought "top skin only" would be a good compomise - apparently it was tested and did not work out.

In about 1979 I built a few canopies using sail material. In the era of F-111 canopies the difference in packing was severe. The fabric was very nice to deal with during construction. The real reason I used it originally was that it was so hard to get fabric in small quantities. The canopies flew nicely.
