superstu 0 #1 May 16, 2006 we had a great meet for the 1st one of the season. everyone was coming off the winter season and brushing off the rust, but we had 10 competitors, and very safe flying. no one really got hurt except one competitor did pull a hamstring running out of the speed course. to see all the results and a better summer check out http://nwcpc.com thanks for a good time guys and see ya at snohomish...stuSlip Stream Air Sports Do not go softly, do not go quietly, never back down

diveout 0 #3 May 16, 2006 Yea, Thanks dude you are one dedicated hi-speed organizer. Even after swimming around in the green SDO pond you were RUNNING in the near-dark setting the course up for the follwing morning. Kudos. Thanks judges and other pilots as well. CanuckInUSA 0 #4 May 16, 2006 Quote Thanks dude you are one dedicated hi-speed organizer He's also one damn good canopy pilot who was definitely flying at a pro caliber level on Saturday. Take away a certain blade strike in the speed round (on a flag that shouldn't have been there) and the 1st and 2nd place finishers are flip flopping in the final standings. Tom (the winner) did fly good as well. Quote Even after swimming around in the green SDO pond I wonder if Bryon has been de-slimed yet? I'm glad I didn't chow. superstu 0 #5 May 16, 2006 thanks guys, had a blast too. exhausted the next day for sure though. by the way if you any of you guys out there have any pics, you can send them to me if you want and i'll put them on the website. by the way, i must add that Brad Harris was the only one competing on a non-cross braced canopy and placed fifth! so all those out there not competing cause you're not on a xbraced canopy, get the hell of your asses and come play! he was flying a katana 107, good job bro. see ya at the next meet!Slip Stream Air Sports Do not go softly, do not go quietly, never back down
sunnydee123 0 #6 May 16, 2006 Congrats Brad - I also am competing for my first year with a Katana 107. Might not have all the "umph" the crossed braced guys have, and I am not wing-loading much but it all comes down to the flying. I'm hoping THEY all will continue to "go big" and I can just sort out how to keep my butt down inside the gates and score Have fun, be safe and good rallying of the troops Stu! Maybe see ya'll out in CO for the Championships. Dreams become reality, one choice at a time...

Might not have all the "umph" the crossed braced guys have, and I am not wing-loading much but it all comes down to the flying. I can't talk too much because I am on a cross-braced wing, but we had a local non-CPC swoop comp a few weeks back in the Vancouver BC area and 4 of the 6 competitors were on the traditional 9 cell wings. So yes people, you don't need to be flying a cross-braced canopy to compete. It's all about making the entry gates. With the current CPC rules/handicap, the only event where the non-cross braced canopies are really challenged is in the speed carving courses and that's only if you're jumping into a strong'ish head wind. Zone accuracy shouldn't be an issue since amateur competitors have multiple entry gates to choose from and distance is distance. So get out there and compete folks. Guys like me who aren't good enough to be pro but who are running the pro courses are plenty handicapped and you can do well if you make the entry gates. Vectracide 0 #8 May 16, 2006 Thanks Stu and SunnyDee.......! The event was a great experience for me. I have been practicing on gates since the beginning of the year, but this was the first time I have been able to visualize and set up for all 3 courses and hit them over water. Very very fun, and very hard as well. I took several things from the event. First is that as soon as you have the gates you cannot just "let" the rest happen, you have to be thinking about your next input immediately, as it happens so fast. Setting up tight to the outside gate on the speed course really helps. After clearing all 4 gates in the accuracy round, giving the canopy a sharp stab of the toggles really helps scrub any unnecessary speed and gives you a slightly sharper angle of attack on the landing zone, preventing you from sliding into the negatives. Thanks again for the props guys....... Till we swoop again..... ------------------------------ Controlled and Deliberate.....
ntacfreefly 0 #9 May 17, 2006 Good job Brad. I, for one, am ecstatic to see non x-braced canopies in the CPC! Best of luck for the season.
