fudd 0 #2 December 12, 2002 Here a tool for you: http://www.poxon.org/Craig/Skydive/Tools/CypresValuer.asp There are some different models too. Student, expert and tandem. You also want to check out if you rigg needs a one or two pin cutter. (Can be purcased seperately I believe). Your rigger can tell you this, and make sure your rigg is cypress ready if you're unsure. maretus 0 #3 December 12, 2002 Age ! Airtec has announced that max. operative age of Cypres unit is 12 years. You can find very helpful Cypres price chart from http://www.poxon.org/Craig/Skydive/Tools/CypresResaleChart.asp . Also you should ask about maintenance of the unit, batteries have to be changed every two year or 500 jumps, which ever comes firrst. The unit has to be sent airtec every four years. If the seller has taken care of all these mandatory actions and there are correct markings about them in units data card, then the unit should be reasonably safe to buy. You could also ask about possible fires on the unit, just to know wheter it has been tested or not. :)http://www.ufufreefly.com
fudd 0 #4 December 12, 2002 And I almost forgot. Check the serial number up against this list before buying: http://www.pia.com/SSK/cypres/missing.htm These are cypresses that are reported stolen, missing or unairworthy for some reason. You don't want to buy one of these! There are only 10 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary, and those who don't.
councilman24 37 #5 December 12, 2002 Here is another calculator at SSK's web site. If you shopped around last I knew new cypreses were under $900. Depends on exchange rate. Always have gotten almost best prices from Ed Cummings http://www.cummingsrigging.com/Page_1x.html www.pia.com-SSK-cypres-usedcypres.aspI'm old for my age.
