Byron Pond Swooping contest

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I am posting this on behalf of my friend Mark:

Calling all Swoopers!!!

Its that time of year when the pond out at Bay Area Skydiving (Byron) is
full of water and just begging to be swooped. I thought its about time to
organize a Pond Swooping contest to see who in NorCal is the best.

On Saturday March 4th, I will be out at Byron shooting hi-definition video
of all the attempts. That evening in the hanger we will show the good, the
bad, and the ugly and then judge the days winner. This is an unofficial
swoop contest and the rules are simple -- be the best and win!

I have created two categories, Best Swoop & Best Trick. The winner in each
category will win $100 cash plus a medal and bragging rights. There is no
limit to the number of attempts. You can win with one great swoop or
several.

We are also planning on having a party that night in the hanger that will
coincide with the video judging. Please let me know if you think you will be
participating in the contest so we can be prepared and have enough beer.

This contest is open to all levels of swoopers. Please feel free to forward
this invite to whoever you think will be interested.

Looking forward to seeing some real NorCal talent,

Best regards,

Mark Lichtle

Sounds like an awesome event.

If I was in Cali I'd be there for sure.

I hear JetBlue has cheap flights to SFO from New York :P

Another special trophy to win is the Salmon award.. this is the award you get for doing the exact oposite of "whale watching"

The current holder of this award will be more than happy to pass it on to the next person.. :P

Yes, I am! You can only get away with walking on water for so long!

But my new (to me) Velocity has just arrived, so no more fishing for me!

Of course, no pond for me until I dial it in.....

If I can't get on any loads tomorrow, I'll likely leave my stiletto on.

The weather was cooperating today.... but there was nobody here. :(

you need to call me earlier so I can start getting a really bad cough.. and I would have had to leave by noon..

It was the first ever attempted, all-be-it unsucessful "Can-can to wingover to backspin"...

So close...

You pulled off all those moves ... you just did it horizontally.

PM me your phone number so I can get my brace.
My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto

Definitely Pond Chow, Salmon winning. Lisa's photos prove it, you didn't just walk out, look at those legs.

Bonnie's off the plaque.
