Duckwater 0 #26 March 3, 2006 I credit Jim Slaton with keeping me injury free for the last 5 years. I lucked into going to his canopy course about jump 80. The things he taught were life savers. He is an excellent teacher and a true pioneer. It was like getting driving lessons from Jeff Gordon. I did control jumps with him and Clint that were great too. After his class, I landed on rear risers due to a brake line getting caught in the eye hole (and stood it up) 20 jumps later. I dont know what I would have done without him teaching me how to fly on rear risers (testing the stall up high etc....) I learned how to carve gradual turns to have energy on landing and, for real, I have not had a non-stand up jump since his school. Get well buddy, there are hundreds of people that have not been hurt because of you. You have my respect for life. --

I have received some form of canopy control coaching from Jim on three different occasions now (with more to come in the future I'm sure) and he explained swooping to me like nobody ever did (and he's very passionate and graphic about the subject). It absolutely rocked my swooping world and opened my eyes up to how little I knew about swooping prior to my first encounter with Jim (in Wildwood two summers ago). My coaching with him wasn't cheap. But it was money well spent. I'm sad Jim and Duane got hurt. But very happy that it wasn't worse. Heal up guys ... as you're needed on the Swooping and Ground Launching circuits. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

I have never swooped, never will, but I can do a pretty sweet front riser turn (baby swoop) and get some serious speed without burying the front riser. --

ChuckDarwin 0 #30 March 7, 2006 Charles Darwin is getting too old to keep up with all you young whipper snappers. Charles Darwin's theory of "Evolution" keeps getting trumped by the advances in medical technology and Charles Darwin fears that this will make the human race "Devolve" back into apes. This his Charles Darwin's theory of "De-evolution". Charles Darwin cannot allow this to happen! Charles Darwin will get you next time!! :shakes fist:
