chayes12 0 #1 February 20, 2006 Here are the results for the first Meet of the South East 2006 season. We had perfect weather with a light cross wind for all six rounds. Lake Wales did an outstanding job getting the pond ready for the this comp. The pond was full of water with no lip at all and all the sand in the landing area was manacured for the comp. The DZ has a great farm tractor with a disc attachment to creat a soft and smooth landing area. A quad motorcycle is then used with an attachment on the back that drags the sand to make a very professional looking flat landing area for the zone accuracy jumps. Tom Sr. and Tom jr. (1st place) from Lake Wales worked hard before the comp to get the pond ready for action. Ian Bobo was at the comp on the ground for the comp and answered questions all day long and at the end of the day, all the competitors gathered and video debriefed every swoop from the comp with coach Bobo. Alot was learned by all. We saw a lot of new faces for the comp who will be competing for the 2006 season and some old friends returning to the circuit. Congratulations to all who competed. 21 competitors 1st place $300 Tom Delibac 2nd place $200 Keith Mcbeth 3rd place $100 Marat Leiras Meet 2 will be next month in Sebastian Florida on March 18 P.S Hey Clint, you better get down here. Your bro is kickin some ass :)
ntacfreefly 0 #2 February 20, 2006 Hey Chris, Thanks for organizing the comp. The weather was beautiful and everything ran smoothly. Congrats to everyone, especially those who broke their 'competition cherry', it was great flying with you all. As always, I was impressed with the overall level of flying, looks like there's going to be some tough competition again this year and that's great news Won't be able to see you in Sebastian but we'll catch you at Z-Hills next edit: To those of you who say you can't swoop a Sabre2, I'd love to point out that Scott Miller was jumping a Sabre2 120 flying the 10 ft gates and did 295ft! Pretty damn impressive Scott. Nice run!! Pretty damn impressive Scott. Nice run!! We might just have to "pimp his canopy ride" with Technora and an RDS. That would be interesting, a Sabre 2 winning the swoop meets!!! ntacfreefly 0 #7 February 22, 2006 Something else to note. We used a weight table of sorts for this meet to determine loadings, etc and who was allowed to wear what and how much weight. I think it's obvious from the scores that the new system is quite effective in leveling the playing field. I know it's only 1 meet and I don't know how close the table was to what will be made official this year, but I thought it worked out well. I like the idea that it's down to skill, not how much a pilot is willing to weight up. Spizzzarko 0 #9 February 22, 2006 Chris, Are you using last years CPC rules in this comp? There is a bunch of speculation on how things are changing for this years CPC (wing loading for example), but nothing has been published, and I feel that recent events will delay this even further. I'm sure we all want to compete with the same rules, but I think that there were many different ways that the local CPC's were run last year. I'm sure the powers that be do not want that happening again. Grant
chayes12 0 #10 February 22, 2006 Hey guys Just a little more time, I'm sure, and all the rules regarding weight classes and percentage scoring and handicapp (5 and 10' gates) rules will be released to be used in the CPC. Remember we have still not even reached the Feb 28 release date and with Jim's situation there might be a little delay. Let's be patient right now. Thanks Chris
chayes12 0 #11 February 22, 2006 Weight restrictions have been approved by IPC and USPA and will be implemented in CPC, PST, USPA and FAI santioned events for the 2006 season. They will be released soon.
