jeiber 0 #1 July 25, 2005 Looking to enter my first (beer) CPC competition this weekend at Skydive Atlanta. I have some questions that I couldn't find answers to on canopypiloting.com site. Sorry if they're stupid, this is new to me... What's the start time? How/where do I register? Does it matter that I'm from FL, competing in the GA circuit? (working in GA that week). How/where do I pay the annual CPC membership? Also, I can't take off work for the skills camps two days prior to the comp. Would it be wise to pass on this comp and plan for one where I can attend the skills camp first? FYI, already taken a couple canopy courses, but have very little experience with gates. Any advice is greatly appreciated! JeffShhh... you hear that sound? That's the sound of nobody caring!
ianmdrennan 2 #2 July 25, 2005 QuoteWhat's the start time? 9am Saturday morning. Most likely there will be 1 practice round so realistically the comp will start around 10:30. QuoteHow/where do I register? The day of the comp. Dave Hebert will have all the forms, etc for you to fill in. QuoteDoes it matter that I'm from FL, competing in the GA circuit? (working in GA that week). No. You can compete in any district you'd like (or as many as you'd like). You have to pick a 'main' district that you'll actually accrue points at, but you can compete anywhere as a guest. QuoteHow/where do I pay the annual CPC membership? Same as registration info. QuoteWould it be wise to pass on this comp and plan for one where I can attend the skills camp first? FYI, already taken a couple canopy courses, but have very little experience with gates. Jeff, having spent some time with you I'm sure we can work something out. As always though, it's wise to get as much coaching as possible. Competition environments are very different from the average beerline swooping weekend. We'll sit down and talk about what to expect and what the common pitfalls and safety issues are. If nothing else and you decide not to compete, simply watching the comp will teach you an ENORMOUS amount. See you there.
