Update - Colorado CPC

Recommended Posts

Welcome to the Colorado Canopy Piloting Circuit. The Colorado CPC will consist of 5 meets held between April and September. These competitions will consist of the traditional events: Speed, Distance and Zone Accuracy. The results of each competition will be posted on canopypiloting.com and will allow each competitor the opportunity to track their standing on both the local and national scene throughout the season. At the conclusion of the season the top 5 competitors from each region will be invited to the CPC National Championships to be held in September. To qualify for the CPC Nationals, you must compete in 4 of the 5 events held in your district this year. First place at the CPC nationals will automatically be granted a “Pro” classification. Places 2 through 10 will be eligible to take the “Pro” qualification test.

We are working very hard to build the premier swooping facilities anywhere in the world. Mile Hi Skydiving is the host drop zone for all of our competitions and we hope to be able to hold each competition at our new pond, the Go Fast Swoop Pond at Mile Hi. This facility is the largest swoop pond in the world and will prove to be the nicest swooping facilities anywhere.

The dates are as follows:

Meet 1 April 23
Meet 2 May 21
Meet 3 June 11
Meet 4 July 16
Meet 5 Aug 13

These dates fall on a Saturday, we will use the following Sunday as a weather day. June 10 – 12 we are having our annual 5280 bogie. This will be a large event that will feature high performance canopy flight seminars as well as other events.

Applications are now available from me or at canopypiloting.com to become a member of the CPC. The cost is $50.00 per year of which $25.00 stays in this district to help with the cost of equipment as well as prize money. In addition, there is a $50.00 registration fee per event. All fees for membership and registration cost need to be paid to Jason Tolliver. Please e mail me at the address listed below for payment instructions.

To register and compete competitors must have at least 500 high performance landings in total which include a minimum of 100 high performance landings within the past 12 months and 50 high performance landings on your current canopy. In addition canopy pilots that do not hold a “PST” card must complete a high performance canopy piloting class offered by Mile Hi Canopy Flight or present proof of proper training from another recognized canopy flight school before swooping the Go Fast Swoop Pond at Mile Hi. This is a requirement of the Drop Zone. An objective of the CPC is to provide a controlled flight arena for canopy pilots to fine tune existing skills and gain competition experience. There will be a Zero Tolerance policy for those deemed to posses the wrong attitude, commit safety violations and/or create a dangerous element in a controlled flight arena. It is the responsibility of the competitor to read and understand the rules prior to competition. All rules will be strictly enforced.

Please visit canopypiloting.com and review all rules associated with this event.

For more information, please contact me at any time or feel free to talk to any instructor of Mile Hi Canopy Flight.
