freedom1 0 #1 February 20, 2005 I have done rear riser landings on the cat I have jumped (manta, sabre 190) though they were all quite lightly loaded. i was just wondering if rear riser landings are possible/recommended for more heavily loaded caopies. thanx in advance for the input
 freedom1 0 #2 February 20, 2005 I have really got to proof read these posts, though I'm sure you know what i mean. LOL
 towerrat 0 #3 February 20, 2005 how much more heavily loaded are you talking about? With 50 jumps you shouldn't be much over 1:1. You should be able to fly the piss out of the one you have before moving on, and that should include rear riser landings. It is easy to stall any canopy on rears, so learn the stall point up high before trying to land this way. Any thing new under canopy should be tried at altitude, and if you get a friend ( a more experienced friend) to fly base for you, you can visibly see the reactions to your inputs. Landing on rears could come in handy some day, might as well learn it before you are forced to learn it under duress, or possibly have an unnecessary cutaway.Play stupid games, win stupid prizes! Thanx for the input towerrat. If the pilot has the skill and experience, it can be done with success. But you don't get many 2nd chances in this sport and you don't build experience without jumping and staying current.
