Rear riser landings

Recommended Posts

how much more heavily loaded are you talking about? With 50 jumps you shouldn't be much over 1:1. You should be able to fly the piss out of the one you have before moving on, and that should include rear riser landings. It is easy to stall any canopy on rears, so learn the stall point up high before trying to land this way.
Any thing new under canopy should be tried at altitude, and if you get a friend ( a more experienced friend) to fly base for you, you can visibly see the reactions to your inputs.
Landing on rears could come in handy some day, might as well learn it before you are forced to learn it under duress, or possibly have an unnecessary cutaway.
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes!

I was just wondering what the consensus was on rear riser land

The canopy stalls at a higher air speed when landing with your rears. If the pilot has the skill and experience, it can be done with success. But you don't get many 2nd chances in this sport and you don't build experience without jumping and staying current.

Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
