Recommended Posts

o'k it seems that paratec's rage is doing really good against X braced canopys In european competion. So have we met the whole meal deal nine cell or Is the bar between the rage and let's say the katana to high. I'm not trying to start a argument on what canopys are better than others Im just trying to find the best present performer. Just look at the reasults in the link

http://www.swooping.de/ and who thinks that there will be a place for airlocked canopys in the future of skydiving, and could we mabe see and airlocked wing in base. and yes I need to learn how to use my clicky.

I don't care about fame I just want people to know my name qote ( Andrew Cebuhar)

the thread is dead

As stated many times on DZ.com (you need to learn how to use the search function!!), people's opinion tends to be for an open nosed 9-cell the Katana and the XF2 are the high end of performance.

"Best performing" is totally subjective. What makes one person happy will not impress somone else who is into something completely different. Some people like a quick-turning, twitchy canopy and some people like a "solid" feel. Furthermore, even "same event" comparisons don't work well on the internet. A canopy's turn rate, float across the ground, and shutdown are all heavilly influenced by flying style.

Yep, what Chuck said. I am often asked to answer questions like "Why is THIS canopy better than THAT canopy?" My answer is always something to the effect of..."THIS canopy is only better than THAT canopy if YOU like it better for YOUR flying style and what you're looking for in openings, flying, approach and landings."
And to the original poster...a certain canopy doing well at competitions is only doing well because of the pilots that are flying them. Those same guys could probably swoop the crap out of a Stratostar if that's what they were jumping.

Not pumping my canopies cause I can't fly worth a damn but Eric Butts flys a Competition Cobalt

I have a feeling that Eric would make a StratoCloud look like a swoop monster as well. There's a LOT to be said for someone with skill like that!

That guy is a machine, too bad he doesn't compete anymore.

I did a review of the R.A.G.E. here a while back....search and you'll find it.

Right now for a high performance 9 cell non crossbraced I'd pick the Blade from HiPer.

But I'll probably stick with my Xaos's as I haven't found anything I like flying better consistantly.

You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
