TSO Statistics

Recommended Posts

Sorry, that would be a huge list .
And some of the companies that used to manufacture TSOed gear have gone out of business.
Basically, every harness and reserve manufactured in the USA is TSOed, along with most of the gear made in Australia (Parachutes Australia and Barry what's his name) and South Africa (PISA and the Chute Shop). A couple of French companies (Parachutes de France and ?) used to hold TSOs, along with three Canadian companies (but Flying High is the only Canadian company still active). And one or two German companies have applied for TSOs.
It is also rumored that some of the gear (mainly more recent Teardrops) built by Thomas Sports Equipment in Britain is TSOed.

Actually is DOES exit.:)http://av-info.faa.gov/tso/. There there is a Microsoft Access data base that you can download from the FAA. It includes ALL TSO's, not just parachutes. You can search by part number, manufacturer, or TSO number. Enter TSO-C23b, TSO-C23c, or TSO-C23d and you'll get every parachute TSO ever issued, including companies long out of business. Some of the items are by part number, some include common name, like Racer. Pretty cool and useful.

Wow, I got one on Rob.;) Ain't the internet great.

Don't see Thomas sports anywhere in the list.

I was about to say it didn't exist also. Without a T1 line it may take awhile to download.

Please note that Relative Workshop gear is certified under TSO C-23b, and therefore does not show up on the list of manufacturers operating under TSO C-23d. I'm on the committee now working on a new TSO document to fix the "problems" with "d", which was written to fix the "problems" with "c". When a new TSO is issued, we make sure everything we make will pass every new requirement that really matters, but we don't go to the expense of an offical "re-TSO" everytime the document changes.

Bill,

When you pull up the current list of companies your not listed because it only goes back to 23c. But the access database has 23b as well and does list the Relative Workshop. Everything that was ever issued to any company is there, including one I hadn't heard of called "Swine Flew":)

including one I hadn't heard of called "Swine Flew" I'm not kidding.

..any bets that it was a 'sole proprietor/rigger' who had heard - from one too many firends and relatives - "ya, you'll make your own gear when Pigs can fly ...":P

Interesting... I don't find the mfg of my harness & container listed in the database (an Altico Dolphin 2000), does this mean that the thing is NOT TSO'd??? How is it that it's not listed if it IS TSO'd??? hmmmm...

ps - I LIKE my Dolphin, and I'm SURE it's a step above "Swine Flew";)
