chayes12 0 #1 September 13, 2004 Unfortunately due to the Hurricane, Lake Wales will not be available for round 5 of the Florida League. I have spoken with them and we will schedule a meet there as soon as they are ready for us. Maybe the final FLCPA round or something. We are looking forward to swooping in Lake Wales. Round 5 will be on the same date, September 25, in DeLand. Please pass this information on to anyone interested. Chris
ianmdrennan 2 #2 September 13, 2004 Hey Chris, Thanks for the update, but Deland again? That's 3 meets...how about Titusville or somewhere different? Final round in Lake Wales sounds like da bomb! Blues, IanPerformance Designs Factory Team
proswooper 2 #3 September 15, 2004 DUDE~ How about any other dropzone in florida. I know your wondering about attendance but the smaller dzs in florida get so much good vibes and not to mention brings business that is not usually there to smaller dzs. They really appreciate it when we turn up and tear up the place. also it promotes awareness in more needed places. i think in the long run thats where we will find young up and coming pilots for the future of FLCPA. just my two cents Paul
chayes12 0 #4 September 16, 2004 Well guys it's like this. We're all aware of the current hurricane situation. It has really put a stop to everything in Florida. Especially Lake Wales. If this event was not part of a series, I would have waited untill Lake Wales was ready for us. They are great people and I would have prefered to wait to have the round 5 at their new pond. At this late time in the schedule with everyone still feeling these bad storms, I just figured that it would be easiest for everyone, swoopers, judges, organizers to have it again in DeLand instead of trying to coordinate a different location two weeks before the event. Don't forget that DeLand did an excellent job for us giving us their otter for the comp. They had that plane ready for us when we needed it. Steve in manifest is on it and so was Mike Johnston. Not to mention that I personally have used up all my vacation days for the year. I agree that it would be cool to spread the vibe and we will. Patience. This is just the beginning. After we get this series done, we can all decide (maybe a vote) where we should swoop for the next events. Who knows maybe we'll even go out of state. Expand a little. Anyway, I hope you guys will understand and bring your best for round 5, in DeLand. Chris
proswooper 2 #5 September 16, 2004 THanks for putting that out for us chris. it makes alot more sense and i understand the pressures and difficulties involved in organising this. please dont take what i said as an attack just putting my feelings out there. maybe inthe future if we expand we should get a couple of people allocated to help put everything together and take some of the load off of you? just an idea. Whatever makes it work. thanks big guy Paul

ianmdrennan 2 #10 September 23, 2004 Chris, Any chance we can get going early on this before the winds pick up? *F#&king hurricanes* Blues, IanPerformance Designs Factory Team
sunnydee123 0 #11 September 23, 2004 I was wondering if this round would even happen now, since FROM WHAT WE HEAR, we might start feeling winds as early as Friday. I'll be trying to protect what I have left from Fucking Frances and pray Jeanne doesn't take that. I remember the first round in Deland where we had GUSTS in the 20 - 30 range - not sure how much fun it would be to try to do anything in straight 30 mph winds.....but I'm not a cool swooper person either This is unbelievable. I miss seeing everyone - the whole FL Swoop gang became like part of the family since we were all together monthly. I expect....no....I'd APPRECIATE hugs from each and every one of you.....next time I see ya Be safe until then.....xo, D Dreams become reality, one choice at a time... proswooper 2 #12 September 23, 2004 Hey D I would like to say be safe with the hurricane thing and if there is anything i can do for you two then just give me a shout. family is family. We will all be issuing hugs at the next meet for you. sending my best vibes to you and greg. Paul
ianmdrennan 2 #13 September 23, 2004 We're coming anyway (our cruise leaves on sunday...wonderful) Hope to see you guys in Deland. I'm optimistic. It's going to be windy but with any luck Chris will set up a cross wind course (reading this Chris??!!??) so we don't have to do approaches into a 15 mph wind. See you tomorrow. sunnydee123 0 #14 September 23, 2004 Honestly, I'd almost plan to skip it myself just because I don't like driving alone, long distances in any kind of wind and rain. My nerves are kinda shot these days but I have Greg's rig, so if he is to compete, I have to come. I have to re-board and hurricane prep SOLO this time since he's not here. No worries, I'll put on my work boots and Tim the Tool man toolbelt and be ready to go! Bring it on!!!!!!!!!!! Not sure what's gonna happen with your cruise my friend ~ won't have to worry if you guys were planning to "rock the boat". The motion of the ocean will be a ride in itself. Just thinking - the trek might be worth it, no matter the weather thinking of all the yummy hugs (and maybe kisses) I'll be collecting xo, D Dreams become reality, one choice at a time... Rdutch 0 #15 September 24, 2004 Not trying to keep you away (I plan on cashing in on that hug offer) but what canopy does greg jump? I have 3 rigs all with ve90's in them he can use one if he want's, so you don't have to drive all that way alone. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of! skymama 37 #16 September 24, 2004 Ray...I know Deland sent the planes up north during Frances. Have you heard if they are going to do that again now that Jeanne is projected to hit around Daytona? I'm planning on coming out on Saturday too, but it won't be much fun if there aren't any planes! She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
sunnydee123 0 #17 September 24, 2004 Thanks for the offer Ray - that would be awesome but Greg has just been jumping a Velo 96 so not sure he's ready for a 90 With the recent advisories, I too would love to know what the deal is with the planes. I know the forecast bumped it back to hitting Sunday but people have to prepare and who know what the winds will do after tonight. I'll keep watching......and I'm kinda liking this "hug list" I'm compiling Hugs Rock!!!!! Dreams become reality, one choice at a time...
chayes12 0 #18 September 24, 2004 I am not sure about the planes yet. I will post something here as soon as I find something out. As of right now, 9 am, the competition is on for tomorrow. Chris
