towerrat 0 #2 August 31, 2004 great idea.... take it to the bridge, i've seen video of someone taking a rather small canopy off of it at bridge day. It wasn't packed, just flaked and handheld. It was NOT pretty, and the fellow is probably real lucky he didn't get hurt.Play stupid games, win stupid prizes!
ManBird 0 #3 August 31, 2004 I recommend a pro pack. Anything over 220' should be fine. You MIGHT want to go with a fine mesh slider -- it might help. You'll want a 42" PC, but since this is an elliptical canopy, it should be collapsible. Be sure to get video, troll."¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click

SkymonkeyONE 4 #5 September 1, 2004 I recommend standing on top of a chiba-chiba bus driving and full speed and simply throwing your PC into the girders of whatever bridge you happen to drive over. Yes, please get video.

Yoshi 0 #9 September 1, 2004 well I did a base jump with my crossfire 2 111... Not sure what to classify it as though... it wasnt Earth... or a Building... or and antena.... I guess you would call a picnic table a span, right...? I definately suggest a large pilot chute, because with my regular pilot chute- it just barely inflated before I impacted the bean bags on the floor... AggieDave 6 #10 September 1, 2004 Yeah, here's a "base" jump I did with my old Heatwave 170...scariest jump I've ever been on. It was a launched 2-way with Pablito and I was PCA'ed. --"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."

wmw999 2,582 #16 September 3, 2004 I'm not a base jumper, but if you're really interested in it, here is an article about getting into BASE and here is an article about your first BASE rig. You should not jump your Icarus for BASE if you want to anything besides either extremely lucky or dead. Good luck -- there are probably some cool places in Chile, but BASE really requires a lot of training and preparation -- more so than skydiving. Wendy W.There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. ManBird 0 #17 September 3, 2004 QuoteBASE really requires a lot of training and preparation -- more so than skydiving. My first skydive cost $300 and was 8 hours start to finish. My first BASE jump was free and took maybe 30 minutes, including training and hiking. And my "instructor" only had about ten BASE jumps himself. Though, those 80 or so skydives helped a bit. Just messing with you, Wendy. True story, but just messing with you."¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click
BASE813 0 #18 September 4, 2004 a guy in paraguay already did this............ seriously dude if you want to get into BASE then go read some stuff before asking questions like this.
jedeisurf 0 #19 September 4, 2004 If I were you I would check out the base zone on dz .com there are links at the top that you should read. I have 1 base jump and would not even think of using a hp canopy. If you really want to get into base get the proper gear your life is at stake here. Faber 0 #20 September 5, 2004 Quotecan i basejump with my icarus99 sure you can its a free world Quotehow should i pack it dosnt matter you die if you jump Quotehow hight should i be lower than 100ft so you dont burn any normal jumped objects, that the rest of us like Quoteis it possible sure is,you can do what you want to do.. surviving the jump whith out injury or death is the Question.. By the waý do you look like Shrek?? i mean im interested in trolls and wonder how they looks like... Stay safe Stefan Faber
courage 0 #21 September 11, 2004 Of course you can. I used an Excalibur 150 for my 1st basejump in '89, but I can't see why you'd wanna use non-base equipment for basejumping nowadays? The sport has come a long way in the last decade.
chachi 0 #22 September 13, 2004 Canadia handicapp? That's a personal attack, im calling a moderator on your ass. ~Chachi No not going to Twin Falls last weekend.
