Rdutch 0 #1 August 29, 2004 Flcpa Round 4 ran smoothly, and best of all no injuries. Competitors came from all around, appearances were made from PD factory team members, Ian Bobo, Jay Moledzki and Cisco Neri. (Sorry about the spelling if its wrong) who proudly displayed their awesome looking new Factory Team canopies. Ian and Jay stepped up to Velocity 103's and we can see why by Jay's outstanding distance round swooping over 70 ft farther than his closest competitor. Extreme team member Clint Clawson made the trip to compete and took a very close second to Ian Bobo. Up into the final round Jay Moledzki had the lead, but a combination of slippery ground and protecting a previous ankle injury had him slide out of bounds to take a zero for round 5. The overall level of competition was outstanding. the skill of the competitors has definitely stepped up, this event was close enough to have everyone biting their nails. Everyone showed vast improvements, I even got lucky and took 6'th place. Mother nature worked with us providing sun and a slight breeze. As successful as this year has been, I can't wait to see what next year has to offer. The next round is scheduled for Lake Wales, sept 25, were all holding our breath and praying that everything can get cleaned up in time and Lake wales running at full steam. Id love to see this grow to the same level as the FSL. One of the main reasons for the rise in skill level, besides the hard work and training that the competators have done, is the outstanding coaching available, anyone interested in learning the differences between a normal swoop and what it takes to be a good competator, a good place to start is a good coach, one of the best programs I know of and can speak personally about is Flight-1 http://www.flight-1.com/ They have a very well designed program, and not just for people interested in doing swoop competitions, they cater to canopy pilots of all levels. There is another course in the west coast, I dont know the name, Im sure someone can put it up for everyone to see. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!
