kopelen 0 #1 November 18, 2002 How many of you replace your closing loop on your main pack tray?
TB99 0 #2 November 18, 2002 Hmm ... I just changed mine about 3 weeks ago ... I just change it when it needs to be changed! Trailer 11/12 was the best. Thanks for the memories ... you guys rocked!
rushmc 23 #3 November 18, 2002 I do, when ever it needs it. I had 6 made up when I bought the rig new so I never have an excuse to put "just one more jump" on one needing replacement. drenaline 0 #4 November 18, 2002 we get about 2 jumps on the week ends, so the closing loop doesnt wears that much. The rigger changes it when he repacks the reserve but if I or somebody else sees it worn out I will change it. HISPA 21 www.panamafreefall.com
sunshine 2 #5 November 18, 2002 I always carry a spare in my gear bag. Replace it when it looks worn. ___________________________________________ meow I get a Mike hug! I get a Mike hug!
Chief 0 #6 November 18, 2002 I carry a spare and change it at every reserve repack. May be excessive, but they are cheap.
Rdutch 0 #7 November 18, 2002 Here's a little secret/tip. For all you vector3, Mirage jumpers out there. I use a vector tandem closing loop. they are a little thicker and are made a lot stronger than the regular loops. I have to change mine about every 300 jumps this way. You have to use the old vector tandem loops because the sigma ones are a lot more expensive. Also I have 2 rigs, one I always pack myself and one I have packers pack for me. New canopy/Old canopy. The one I always pack myself the closing loop lasts two to three times as long. So I think taking your time and removing your pull up cord the right way will help you keep your loops lasting a lot longer. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of! AggieDave 6 #8 November 18, 2002 QuoteYou have to use the old vector tandem loops because the sigma ones are a lot more expensive. Yes, they are; however, they are also very very very tough. If I remember correctly, the last Sigma loop that I changed had made it around 500 jumps. I changed it because it *started* to look warn and it could have probably lasted quite a bit longer (we don't play around when maintaining our gear, especially our tandems).--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." lummy 4 #9 November 18, 2002 I'm assuming that only Mirage/ Vector owners can use the tandem loops because the loop is on the bottom flap and therefore shorter? Do you have to buy them from RWS?I promise not to TP Davis under canopy.. I promise not to TP Davis under canopy.. eat sushi, get smoochieTTK#
Rdutch 0 #10 November 18, 2002 That is the reason why. I assume. I know the loop is long enough for a vector and a mirage because I have used them on both. It is a pretty long loop, but I dont know if it is long enough for any other kind of rig. RWS will sell them to you, but if your dz uses Vector tandem's Im sure they will sell them to you. Maybe other tandem loop's will work also. But be careful using other loop's, and Tandem loop's on other sport container's. Other Loop's might be a little thicker and not fit through the grommet well, also other container's might use a smaller grommet. I'm sure a little common sence will make this easy to see if it will work. Well good luck. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!
TB99 0 #11 November 19, 2002 Nice, thanks Ray! Where were you 2 weeks ago when I had just changed my loop? Would've gotten the tandem, oh well, I'll wait until next change ...
