koz2000 1 #1 August 14, 2004 This was posted in the Incidents but since no one was hurt I thought I'd re-post here. But my question is what is going to happen about the IPC swoop comp in Oct? QuoteI was watching Fox News this morning and they showed live footage of Florida Skydiving Center in Lake Wales. The airport was basically destroyed. Half of the hanger was completely torn down. The only part of the roof remaining was the small section over the Otter, which looked ok. Best of luck to Lake Wales and any other DZ that suffered because of Hurricane Charley last night. ______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. quade 4 #2 August 15, 2004 I'm pretty sure that's the least of their worries this close to the disaster. Just go about your training as if it will happen and if it gets postponed or moved, you'll deal with it easier than they've had to.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
koz2000 1 #3 August 15, 2004 Actually to me it won't matter since I'll be overseas during the comp. I do understand the sensitivity of the question as I have seen the picture of the hanger. I didn't intend to offend anyone. But it is a question that needs to addressed.______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. SkymonkeyONE 4 #4 August 16, 2004 You were not going to be able to compete at the Lake Wales meet unless you first qualified in (probably) the top ten at Nationals anyway. I had not given much thought to making it to Lake Wales for that reason. Too bad about the hangar; it was really nice.

QuoteNEWSFLASH: Due to extensive damage caused by Hurricane Charley on 13 August to the Florida Skydiving Center, the United States Parachute Association, in cooperation with the host, has asked permission from the IPC to postpone the 2nd World Cup of Canopy Piloting (Lake Wales, Florida) until 7-13 February 2005. Moving the event to another location is not an option. When the decision is reached, all NACs and IPC delegates will be notified.
