AggieDave 6 #26 November 18, 2002 Ask your rigger to let you watch him/her inspect and repack your reserve. That will teach you a lot.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
rushmc 23 #27 November 18, 2002 Want to learn about your rig? Assemble it (under the watchful eye of a helpful rigger) I have my pack jobs done and I have taken my FAA test (and passed it) I am just waiting to do my sewing, practical training, and pack a few more at the class to finish up and get my ticket. Heck, I am even jumping my own reserve packs. (again, under the watchful eye of my trainer/rigger) I guess the point I am trying to make is, I wanted to know all I could about what I was jumping too. This was all new to me and learning some of what most riggers know helped me understand the equipment we use. I have great respect for all out there who have become riggers because of the work it takes and the responsibility they take on. Thank to all riggers! By the way, thanks to all who posted to this thread. Besides all the goose bumps I got from what you all said you have seen, I learned much about some of the things to look for and (in the future) avoid."America will never be destroyed from the outside, if we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves." MrHixxx 0 #31 November 19, 2002 Find a rigger who will walk you through an inspection and repack. Pay him/her extra to do so, ask lots of questions, and thank them when your through. Jon
