NW Canopy Club

Recommended Posts

Just got this e-mail and am passing it on:

The debut session of the 2004 NW Canopy Club is scheduled for this Sunday, June 20th, at Skydive Oregon. This event is for anyone interested in dedicating part of their skydiving day to improving their canopy piloting skills. Anyone with an A license or higher is welcome. I will have courses and targets set up for all skill levels. This will NOT be an instructional seminar or coaching course put on by any one person, but rather an opportunity to take your current skills to the field, have them videoed, and be constructively critiqued by yourself and your peers. Frequently, watching yourself on video with the input of others is all it takes to make a significant boost in your performance. As these camps continue throughout the summer we will get more technical, but for now I'd just like to get things rolling, so, if you're interested please read on!

In order to make this happen I will need at least a small group of participants, so please RSVP to jazaslaw/@/yahoo.com (remove "/"s), ASAP!

Damn, my reserve's getting repacked. Dammmmmit! I've seriously had opportunity to cut out early this week like crazy, but no rig 'til Friday (I WILL be there on Friday afternoon).

Are you raprificing, or raping and then sacrificing sequentially? I take it we're out of humans? We should have more in early July. Well cook up some homeless Krishnas. OK -- too far on that one.

Yeah, it was great! Awesome conditions, too. No/light wind for a lot of the day. It picked up just enough for kickass downwinders. I learned a hell of a lot, and I think everybody there, at any experience level, benefitted quite a bit. It was amazing to see how quickly people worked out their issues after just on or two video debriefs. A lot of short brake lines and trim issues were caught that no one would have really noticed without the attention each landing received.

There are a few minor bugs to work out, but I think this is going to turn into one hell of a program. Zaz did a great job of putting this together.

Nice! I remembered holding up four fingers for a picture, but I couldn't remember where or why. There's the picture. The four fingers represented my total score in the accuracy round. :)

Can't wait for the next swoop comp. I've got gate practice now, and am getting them about 85% of the time now (as opposed to about 30% of the time -- like before). Doing more 270s than 360s now. I'm a little slow, but I'm starting to get it.

Stu, I hear you're rocking that VX right off the bat. Why am I not surprised? You've got to have a really damn low freefall time to jump ratio. Bring you're new toy to SDO and show us how it's done.
