Jimbo 0 #1 November 12, 2002 I've currently got a pretty big Cazer ZP pilot chute, definitely one of the larger sizes he makes. I was wondering, is it possible for a rigger to shrink it a few inches? I'm considering getting a smaller one for a new canopy and am looking to save a few bucks. Is it doable, or am I better off just buying a new one? - Jim"Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
PhreeZone 20 #2 November 12, 2002 Its doable... but with the work thats going to be put into cutting the material and the mesh... you'r probally looking at a 30-50 dollar bill from your rigger. Another option is to keep the PC for a spare/second rig or sell it.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
AggieDave 6 #3 November 12, 2002 Sure, its easy, call Jim back up and buy a smaller one. Trying to rig one isn't worth the time or trouble.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."

I had a smaller Zpo pilot chute, the thing was getting pretty weary and bits of it came apart at nationals, we patched it back together, and I got a new pilot chute a couple weeks ago. Well, the new one I got was a bigger "F-111" version (I didn't ask for anything different, just worked out that way).... I was amazed at the difference in openings, softer and more on heading (ok, until the thing went into the line twist spinning mal I chopped
Jimbo 0 #5 November 12, 2002 Quoteseems like all they would have to do is sew in a circle an inch in from the edge and cut off the excess? That's kind of what I was thinking, however I think you would want that to be a perfect circle to prevent wobbling and wierd movement during deployment. I haven't talked to him yet, haven't been at the DZ much lately due to the weather. - Jim"Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed. Martini 0 #6 November 13, 2002 Just use a stapler around the edge of the pc. That way you can experiment with smaller and smaller pc sizes until the container won't open. Then go back up a size or two. Wouldn't want to waste big bucks on a new pc, they're kind of a frivolous thing anyway.Sometimes you eat the bear.............. PhreeZone 20 #7 November 13, 2002 Different diameter PC's also have different length internal binding tapes that will need shorten also to make it have the max drag still. For 95 you can order a new and have a second so that if you decide you want the old back you can tack it on. LArge ones are nice for the winter where you are only getting 2500 anyways.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
