garyharbird 0 #1 April 26, 2004 I don't know who saw the new vx that Clint Clawson was jumping its an 33 cell vx, anyone know anything about it? openings, landings, better distance? any info would be great. Thanks Gary Harbird
johnny1488 1 #2 April 26, 2004 Jim posted something on CP.com. Just a teaser as usual. Who knows if we'll ever see it. They get to play around with all sorts of shit and I am envious. AggieDave 6 #3 April 26, 2004 Well, since the FX is the 7 cell, the VX is the nine cell, I'm calling it the XX...the super swoop pimp... Yeah, I saw the pictures, counted the cells twice and still thought I was seeing things.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." jdhill 0 #4 April 26, 2004 QuoteI'm calling it the XX In the results from the Freestyle Open, it is listed as a V2X... From pictures it appears that Clint (5th) was the only one flying one. AggieDave 6 #5 April 26, 2004 I don't really care what its real name is, I'm still calling it the XX "super swoop pimp."--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."

ianmdrennan 2 #7 April 26, 2004 meh...more cells, more lines, more drag. I know it's a prototype (which is cool unto itself even if it did fly like crap - not saying it does btw). I wouldn't get excited just yet, I'm sure there are lots of goofy designs out there, each bringing their own set of drawbacks to the table. I'll wait for a finished product that starts beating the crap out of everything else out there before I get all excited. ramon 0 #9 April 26, 2004 What I was told by Jim, "JC said it has potential.....for certain things" "Clint had to turn it lower than you normally would and it has a lot of lift" It looked really long and thin when I watched it swoop. Clint did a blindman on it. Ramon"Revolution is an abrupt change in the form of misgovernment.", Ambrose Bierce.

diablopilot 2 #13 April 26, 2004 And now half the world of "know it alls" will decide its the hottest thing since sliced bread, and the HAVE to have one. It's opening issues (hard/wild) to still be delt with. Its a real "purpose built" canopy. And it's still way in the Betta testing according to JC and Luigi. Eveyone take a chill bill, and let's all be like a bunch of little "Fonzies" under our current generation of wings. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. AggieDave 6 #14 April 26, 2004 Brian Germain talked a bit here in the forums a while back about why 11-cells aren't really built, talking about drag and opening problems. All in all it really was a good learning discussion.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
diablopilot 2 #15 April 26, 2004 With the new linetypes avaliable I thing drag is less and less of an issue now. Byt the openings are going to be a big problem. The canopy looks like it might fill a "non-skydiving" nitch well.---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. AggieDave 6 #16 April 26, 2004 Non-skydiving as in ground launching?--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
ramon 0 #17 April 26, 2004 They are doing a lot of ground launching lately with all sorts of skydiving and non freefall canopies. ramon"Revolution is an abrupt change in the form of misgovernment.", Ambrose Bierce.
AggieDave 6 #18 April 26, 2004 Right, but I was asking if that's what was meant by that post? It seems like those guys (Icarus) have been doing a reasonable amount of ground launching stuff in the past couple years.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." Spizzzarko 0 #19 April 27, 2004 QuoteAnd now half the world of "know it alls" will decide its the hottest thing since sliced bread, and the HAVE to have one. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I havn't had a good laugh like that in a while. I remember in the not so distant past when there was a picture of Mr. Slaton under what they called a "GX" and there was a giant hype and hoopla about that. It is also my experiance that half the people here can't even land the canopy's they're currently jumping, very well. Maybe it's time for some of us to take a step back to the basics. Spizzzarko 0 #23 April 27, 2004 I was down at coolidge last January, and I was flying my 104 FX with the bird suit. I had a rather monster swoop and tried to pop it up for the nice shut down(It's hard to run in the bird suit...), but I ended up eating it hard. Well, Orley King (Chonical series videos) walks up to me and says... " If your going to go for the glory, sometimes you have to pay the price.". That has since then been stuck in my head.
