chest strap question

Recommended Posts

question about loosening your chest strap for HP landings. I understand that we do this to open up the canopy more and make it more efficient, but is there such thing as opening up the strap too much? is there a point where it will non productive or counter productive? or should we keep loosening it up until we basically have no chest strap at all?

I wouldn't say there's a point to far unless your going to fall out of it. I have heard and tried undoing the strap entirely, but I didn't care for it or find anything more benificial to it. So now I just loosen it all the way. There's only so far a canopy is going to stretch out, other than that it's just your personal comfort factor. That's all I have to say about that.

I disagree.. Some people like to be able to lean more forward in the harness during their swoop.. That requires a looser chest strap.

Fair enough, let me re-phrase then: the point at which loosening your chest strap stops letting your canopy spread more is the point at which there is no longer any tension in your chest strap.
