chileanXaos 0 #1 December 30, 2003 Hi guys , I wanted to know the opinions , of how flies a xaos-21 at a 2.3 wingloading , I fly mine at 1.97 , and now , have the chance to sell it . I want to downsize to a wingload , of 2.3 .I have read that the xaos-27 dives less than the 21 , and thats why I am looking at a xaos-21. Please give me some advice , on what canopy would be better at that wingloading , and wich one would dive harder . any help welcome. Thanks sorry but i write like shit
diablopilot 2 #2 December 30, 2003 I'm not much of a fan of the 21 cell at that loading. Even the 27 cell is starting to show it's limitations when loaded that high. The as for the dive of the 21 vs the 27, they are not all that different, and I don't believe the added length of the dive translates into better performance for the 21. I much prefer the flatness with which the 27 will come back from a long spot, and the ease of a ground carve it has. It also planes out on rear risers much nicer and with less input.---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. freeflypimp 0 #3 December 31, 2003 loading the 21 that high is actually going to produce short swoops with no bottom end! If you want to load anything that high it would have to be a vx or a 27 xaos. Even with the 27 cell I would reccomend that you buy a canopy that you load at 2.1-2.2. You can always add lead but you can't take it off! Miami 0 #4 January 1, 2004 Quoteloading the 21 that high is actually going to produce short swoops with no bottom end! I wouldn't say there is no bottom end, but it is reduced. I'm landing my canopies at a mile above sea level and really only need to run out landings on no wind or nearly no wind landings. Having a high wingloading will shorten your swoops quite a bit, but damn that speed is nice.Miami
chileanXaos 0 #5 January 2, 2004 Hi Miami , at what wingloading are we talking about , that the Xaos-21 starts to give shorter swoops , at 2.3 or more? .
Miami 0 #6 January 2, 2004 QuoteHi Miami , at what wingloading are we talking about , that the Xaos-21 starts to give shorter swoops , at 2.3 or more? . I'm at about 2.9 on mine. If I were at all interested in the distance I covered I would go to about a 2.2 on a 27, but I swoop for the speed.Miami
jumperconway 0 #7 January 3, 2004 The differance in my 21 loaded 2.1 - 2.4 was amazing. The difference between my 27 was bigger at the same difference my 27 now dives are just as long on the 21 with more bottom end on the flare. The 27 just likes to be loaded heavier to dive. koz2000 1 #8 January 3, 2004 I asked Chris Martin (from Precision) what the factory guys were loading for optimal performance and it was 2.2-2.3 on a Xaos27. When you go above that you're losing distance. If distance was completely based on speed, everybody on the PST would be jumping 3.0+. At the WR418, the guy was on a Velocity103 and he's not a very big guy. If you're looking only for speed and the dive but running out the landings go for the 2.3+ on the 21______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J.
