Out of the Blue DVD

Recommended Posts

This weekend while visiting Brush CO, I picked up a copy of the "Out of the Blue" DVD and got to watch it last night once I got home. For anyone who enjoys the canopy aspects of our sport, this is a must see movie. The cinematography is outstanding (especially the mountain scenes) and the featured pilots are all world class. There are two parts of this movie that really got to me:

The mountain scenes were fantastic and I really want my slightly older non-skydiver but ex-pilot brother to watch this portion of the movie as we both grew up skiiing some gnarly mountains together. As I was watching these mountain swooping scenes, I couldn't help but think about my skiiing experiences (both myself and my bro have worked as ski patrollers at Lake Louise in Alberta) and it was sort of like bringing the two most exciting sports I enjoy together into one. So I really want my bro to see this part of the movie. Then maybe he'll understand my skydiving needs. :)

The other part I enjoyed watching was near the end of the movie where they showed the pond swooping chows. It really solidified the fact that swooping is not safe and when you see world class swoopers bounce, you've just got to think that if they're crashing like that, I too can crash like that if I'm not careful.

Anyway, for those of us who truly enjoy the canopy aspects of this sport we know and love, this is a must see movie. Run (don't walk) to your nearest gear shop or website and pick up a copy of this movie. :$
